ADHD is best dealt with by learning to adapt to it in productive methods. I am sure that if you are asking this question that you are well aware of the general problems as well as problems unique to your situation. What you need to determine is how best to turn this from a problem to an asset for your child.
ADHD is not an across the board condition. Children with this condition can find activities which will hold their interest, in which they will likely excel. While video games are not a productive solution, music, art, and even aspects of learning and education (such as types of math or foreign languages) can become productive a focus for these children.
The younger a child is correctly diagnosed, the better off that child will be if he/she can be taught to adapt to that condition. Drugs which claim to correct this problem can have side-effects which themselves may be worse in the long run.

ADHD is a medical condition and it can not be cured although it can be managed .Talk to your childs dr and they will see what is best to help your child.
Sometimes children with ADHD are labeled as bad or has no desire to learn, It's not due to lack of disaplin at home or anything like that. They have a very hard time focusing on stuff due to distractions as small as maybe a pen dropping really any sound can distract them. Talk with your child and let them know that they are no different from any other child. It is hard for them to deal with the fact they have ADHD sometimes. But , It is more common that some may think.

No.
There are drugs that can mask the effects, but the side effects can be just as bad, and the child can be taught to minimize the disorder.
Putting a child with attention deficit and/or hyperactivity on drugs should not be taken lightly. The drugs can have some unusual and undesirable side effects. There a lot of different medicines and while one may be a problem, another may work just fine. Unfortunately, finding the right drug, or combination of drugs, along with the right dosages, is really trial and error.
Don't let a doctor just keep increasing the dosages, that's usually not the answer.
There are also therapies to help the child cope with the condition.
Its a lifelong condition, but with some training and medication (depending on the severity), a child with ADHD can certainly grow up to lead a normal and successful life.

ADHD is a condition associated with the neurotransmitters in the brain and an imbalance in chemicals in the frontal lobe. Stimulant medication, one of the most well known being Ritalin, can correct the imbalance. It does have possible side effects,as with all medication, and isn't for every child but if ADHD is affecting learning it can help to improve concentration at school. Some children really feel the benefits of taking it as it makes them feel more in control of their emotions. Other possible 'treatments' include exclusion diets (need a dietician to help with this), occupational therapy,. Presume if your child has ADHD they are seeing an educational psychologist? Discuss treatment options with them. Also fantastic book for any parent with child who has ADHD is called 'Understanding A.D.H.D.' by Christopher Green. Wrote for parents and is very informative. Hope this helps..and good luck, I know it's hard work!!

I don't think there really is a cure for ADD or ADHD. Children can benefit from the many medications, therapy & other ways to combat and live with these life long illnesses.

Hi ,
Unfortunately there is no cure for ADD.
ADD is caused when the brain is not connecting properly. The right and left sides are not working together, thus causing difficulting in focusing and many other symptoms.
Check with a specialist to find out more and please DON'T let people tell you that this disease is a bunch of nonsense. It is a recognized problem.

there actually is a cure for adhd. my daughter has add, dyslexia and dyspraxia. the hospital wanted to put her on ritalin but i dont want her taking pills so i looked up the internet and accidentally came across an organisation called DORE. i organised a meeting with a man from the clinic and he came out to speak to me about the programme and it looks great!!!! it costs £60 odd pound a month though but well worth it if it helps. apparently toya wilcox, jamie oliver and other celebrities have overcome dyslexia and other suchlike problems by doing this dore programme. it is well worth having a look at the site. just type "DORE" into your computer and see what you think of it. my daughter starts in 2 weeks. good luck,i hope this helps!!.xx

There is no cure but I think they can grow out of it.Medication helps them through it,I think its called Retolin or something like that and usually they can stop taking it when they are older. Its a very complex disorder in my mind and I wish there was a cure.
