I'd be interested to know not only how many have Spanish as a native language, but also how many people in the United States speak Spanish as a second language.

A lot, just a fact. The second city with more Mexicans after Mexico City (8 million living in there but 22 million with all the suburbs around it) is LA. And the new majority of the minorities are Latins.
