Who was the famous necromancer that was killed during his last act?

Question

Alll I know was during his last necromancer act he was trying to summon a soul. (for reasons I don't remember)
He had the circle of protection (or whatever it's called) and was waiting to see if he had summoned anything
Hours in and he hough he had failed so he left the circle... then he got pocessed by a powerful demon that was hiding and he got killed....

Anyone know who he was and where I can find more information on him?

I think you may be referring to Simion Peter I think he was a Greek. Who preformed some illusions of the miracles of Christ. I read were he died trying to fly. Its said he went a little nuts and believed he could fly.
