Yes a left handed golfer buys a glove for right hand and a right handed golfer buys one for left hand
You don't need one, they will not protect you hand from blister and today's grips are not slippery. Gloves came out when golf clubs had leather grips. Leather on leather will not slip

They buy a glove for their glove hand.
You read it right.
The glove hand is the hand that holds the end part of the golf club. The non-glove hand grips below that.
The dominant hand has nothing to do with which hand a golfer uses to hold the end part of the club. Most right handed golfers hold the end part of the club with their left hand, so they will buy a left side glove.
A few golfers who are right handed will hold the end part of the club with their right hand (eg. Phil Mickelson). They will buy a glove for their right hand.

A lot of interesting answers here....Phil Mickelson is a "righty", by the way, but he plays golf left-handed due to "mirroring" his fathers swing when Phil was a little guy. If you are a righty, and you play right handed, you would typically buy a glove for your left hand. In the golf swing, your left hand should be your dominant hand, as related to your swing mechanics, especially your grip. You really only need the glove when attempting "full" swings, such as your tee-shot and approach shots. Chipping and putting have no need to use a glove. Sometimes weather may have an influence on if you need a glove. In cold temps, they are nice to have and in wet weather, it is nice to have gloves disigned specifically for rain.

Lefty= Right hand glove
Righty=Left Hand Glove
They should label it on the glove sleeve. However I'm a lefty and I wear gloves on both hands due to nasty blister problems. So wear the glove on whatever hand hurts the most.
And ummmm, Mickelson is a lefty..hence the nickname "Lefty"

It's true, you wear glove on the hand that's not your dominant hand, and you hit with that hand, too.
