I turn red and blushy when a guy gives me somethin'.I'm quiet and my heart pounds when I'm near one of my good e-mail buds.If one of my combo class buds stand right next to me I stand still, quietly, and pretend I don't see him/her,and be on my cell.

Overcoming shyness is a tough thing to do - it doesn't go away but it does get easier to deal with. There's a lot of good advice been given here so read through and take it in - try it all and you'll find something that works for you.

For me what works is taking a deep breath and slowly releasing it - you'll find that releases a lot of tension. With the blushing - and this is easier said than done ;-) ignore it - or better still laugh it off. There's loads of times when I thought my cheeks were on fire when I'd turn to someone and go - "stand back - I think my blush'll give you a tan" only to find out that they couldn't even see it - it always feels worse than it is ;-)

Good luck, keep persevering and you'll get over it - don't let it rule your life or be your excuse

Decide that isn't how you want to be, if it isn't...and push yourself alot!!! Put yourself in those situations more and more.

I've been dealing with it my whole life...and I go through severe anxiety...I feel...and it doesn't ever get easy for me.

All I know is if you want something to change you will have to change it.

I started selling makeup...just to push myself...to talk to strangers. It got easier with time.

I have a 4 year old daughter who is slightly the same way. And i worried about it...so I read up on shyness. For one when we are kids and people keep saying to us...are you shy? Then it labels us and we grow up saying o I'm shy. :) For two being shy is looked upon like it is a bad thing. And it's not it's just a different personality trait like all the others.

Shy people listen better. They are very observant of their surroundings. They choose friends better.

You can just be yourself and surround yourself with people who respect you for who you are. :)

:) smile

don't pretend not to see them. Atleast say hi. If you do they say hi back to you. They talk to you be nice. That usually makes you feel more comfortable.

I turn. And get quiet sometimes but its always better when you talk to them. If you make a fool of yourself about something small they usually think its cute.

Actually some guys like that shyness in girls....just be yourself. You don't need to be exceptionally outgoing but do check if your shyness might affect your work performance in future. You can't afford to be shy if you are in a Public Relations or Sales position.

Try to relax and get comfortable. Make a joke or two, start a convo on something you like, and importantly, smile.

You have to seriously FORCE yourself to not be shy! If its easy pretend your an actress and your playing a role. It takes alot of will power but you can get over it.

I used to giggle excessively.
Mumble, and do all this other stuff.
But I realized that it's not worth it. Talk to someone.
No need to be shy.
Gotta dive in, head first.

you can tell jokes if you know any, talk to your classmates about your favorite programs on tv and you can partiapate in after school activities or ask a girlfriend over after school for a snack and listen to music
