If that electrician that told you that is still alive, his guardian angel is on heavy overtime. The best way around surges is to get surge arrestors installed in your DB board between all live phases and earth as well as between neutral and earth. Then you can also get a surge protection plug for your pc's. Not the one with the fuse, because by the time the fuse blow the surge is past it already. Just remember that price=quality. Where did he buy his qualification???????

No. Even if a knot would produce a em field it would be so tiny that it wouldn't matter. And an em field wouldn't help with a surge anyway.

You will not change the power surge itself. What you would be changing, to a degree, is the standing wave that runs along the cord. Won't protect any of your devices, though.

Ha I have never heard that before. I don't think it will work though because if power can make it through the knot unrestricted then a surge will make it through also.

No, but you can create a fire hazard!!!! If you have a lot of stuff plugged in, the current will generate a lot of heat. The heat can melt the insulation when tied in a knot!!

i would guess not since electical charges are going through the wire and even though its in a knot the charges are still getting through. If they don't whatever they are hooked up to won't work

who the hell is you electrician?.....not only will it not prevent surges it will also cause a potential heat problem due to resistance.....assist in abnormal ac.. dc flow,, and cause a potential jump of surging of foreign voltage.. purchase a basic surge protector you will be just fine

the knot is strain relief. You plug in saw, use it for a while, then move on to next place, if you do not tie a knot, it comes apart, no juice.
