WOOHOO good old fashion book burning.
(That's a Joke!)
I'm sorry but i am of the belief tha an obsession with books is a good thing. The more you read the more diverse the beliefs and opinions you are exposed to. This leads to understanding, compassion and acceptance. It doesnt matter if the book is fiction or non, every author like every artist leaves a piece of himself in everything he writes. The reader picks up on this consciously or subconsciously, and it affects the reader (whether for good or bad is dependent on the readers ability to question information as they assimilate it). I have a collection of books (all of which i have read at least once) that rivals a lot of small town libraries, and i believe i am a better person for it.

This is hilarious. What's wrong with reading books? I know people who sit on their fat rumps in front of the tv for hours and hours on end every single day!! Does this mean they are obsessed? Reading books is just a different form of entertainment that is much more educational and creative. The person is probably pretty intelligent. You treat them just like you'd treat anyone else. Whatever you do, don't interrupt them while they're reading! It's like interrupting someone's favortie tv show.

Obsessed with reading books is better than being obsessed with video games.
If the person like reading let them! Reading is great. It makes you smarter too. Maybe YOU could try picking up a book every once and a while, unless your referring to you in the question . . . then your fine : - )

With some ******* respect and admiration.
There's something incredibly and unbelievable wrong with this country and it's priorities in that it holds athletes in higher esteem than intellectuals.
You should encourage this person to continue reading, no matter what it is. Encourage them to at least go out once in a while and try to interact with other people but that is about the extent of it.

I don't know, but if you find out, please share!
First rule of successful treatment for any disorder is the patient MUST be willing to undergo treatment and actually WANT to participate in the prescribed treatment.
I don't know what the recommended treatment would be for obsessive reading. But I sure wish I did. My partner reads incessantly!

i become presented up in a Christian relations and had a fearful breakdown about 4 years in the past. presently previously the breakdown, i become examining the e book of Revelation, even in spite of the undeniable fact that i become an agnostic. The breakdown brought about non secular/non secular hallucinations jointly with believing i become reincarnations of distinct known fictional and non-fictional characters (jointly with Jesus, Judas, Dracula, God, devil). I felt like i become being attacked with the aid of demons or perhaps experienced poltergeist-like possession (e.g. being pinned to the refrigerator). the completed episode become very harrowing and that i have been clinically determined with schizo-affective affliction. fortuitously, God got here into my existence and defined to me that we would want to undergo suffering for countless causes, consisting of sharing the suffering of souls who pass on to the afterlife as they arrive to words with issues. i'm now a Christian, yet no longer all my perspectives correspond with those of classic doctrine. operating example God instructed me he has a spouse who helped create the universe (I spoke to her and he or she is gorgeous)! So don t problem about negative memories of a non secular (or the different) style as we are extremely helping God, the spirit international (afterlife) and different souls who we ought to or received't comprehend yet.
