an almost impossible job 2 do justice 2 u'r question, in a single page ., ok as far as their development
first, i'd like u get a glimpse of hinduism
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hinduism
bout the others, jainism and buddhism are ancient religions, meaning before christ
only sikhism is recent (16th century ad)
> respective founders mahavir jain, gautam buddha & guru nanak were all hindu by birth
hinduism is an ancient religion, 3000 - 5000 bc
numerous sects and subsects, numerous scriptures & schools of thought, numerous gods .... phew, incredibly complex
dunno how & when the 'caste' system came ....
many thousand years back 4 sure, but still governs most of india 2 this day; yes even today !
much diluted in cities, but still pretty much strong rurally & nationally ! Lottsa issues ongoing ... caste related ... can make or break the indian government
will post links ...
natually, pretty controversial ...
development ... ok
followers were responsible 4 spreading the other 3 religions
best exponent or case in point is ashoka,
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buddhism
an emperor ...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ashoka
one of the greatest of his time
in his quest 4 power fought the kalinga war
killing 100,000 & 10,000 caualties on his side
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kalinga_War
... this moved him so much, he turned buddhist
>>> this he exported to the far-east upto japan
ashoka largely influenced spread of buddhism and also partly or indirectly jainism
about sikhism
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sikhism
... formed / organised / flourished mainly due to attrocities of the mughal empire
so it's all long stories ...
>> see, it's an explosive molotov coktail, 30 mainstream languages, scripts included
2 sum it up ... on date

Assuming that the Jehovah taught people about the first religion, because he created them and walked with them before we were cast out of Eden, the rest of the religions evolved naturally. Why?
Think about the early Bible stories. Cain and Abel. Cain killed his brother, then was sent away from his family to another land. If Cain and others like him who were cast out of the society of the believing people sinned and turned away from God, they would eventually forget him. Later on, when people were tired of nothing to hope for but this life, they made attempts to create other religions, all that were somewhat similar to Judaism/Christianity, but different.
I don't know exactly how all of these religions were formed. I read that Buddhism was created when a man had a vision of a bright light coming toward him...but don't you think that if a certain religion was the true religion, people would have known about it since the beginning of time? (And yes, people didn't know about Christ since the beginning of time, but God did, and the scriptures of the Old Testament predicted a savior.)

Because no one among them strictly follows their scriptures.
Did you know, Hinduism is against Idol worship???
Did you know that, the Vedas are against Idol worship and command to worship GOD alone???
Did you know, these religions have prophecies about the coming of a prophet (Buddha or enlighted person) to guide humnaity, whom everyone must accept and obey???
Did you know, that this Prophet has been described in detail in the Vedas, Buddhist books, Guru Granth Sahib and the prophecy fits 100% to Prophet Muhammed (peace Be Upon Him)???

Probably for the same reason that their are Roman Catholics, Mormons, Jehovah's Witnesses, Evangelical, Lutheran, Baptists, Calvinists, Pentecostal, Church of England, Quakers etc. Because they can't agree on how to worship and each thinks the other wrong.

Because not every person sees 'god' the same way. There are as many versions of 'god' as there are people. Even within the same church, each person is goingn to have their own idea of what god is ultimately about. That's exactly the way it's supposed to be. Your relationship with 'god' should be completely personal, deep, close. There should be no one between you. When you are unable to tell where 'god' ends and you begin, enlightenment happens.

Probably the same reason there's Judaism, Christianity, Islam, Mormonism, and Rastafarianism even though they have the same goal.

I'm a Christian and can only answer your question from a Christian's perspective.
I believe in one God (in three persons). God created angels before creating man. His highest arch angel (Lucifer), out of his own free will to choose, believed himself to be greater than God, his creator. Lucifer got 1/3 of the angels God had created to join him in rebellion against God. Of course, since God CREATED the angels, they could NOT prevail and Lucifer was cast down to earth (the rest of the angels are held in chains in hell). Hell was created FOR those fallen angels…..NOT for man!
When God created Adam and then Eve, Lucifer (also called Satan) lied to Eve and convinced her to eat of the only tree in the Garden of Eden that God had forbidden Adam and her to eat from. She convinced Adam to eat it also. As a result of Adam’s willful act of disobedience, sin entered the world.
Ever since, Satan has perverted EVERYTHING about God to the human race. Even though the truth was always there and still is, because of Satan's perversions in man's mind, man has imagined all sorts of ways to 'enlightenment'. People 'search' for God because there is a place inside of each human being where God BELONGS. But they're blinded by the devils deception and can't 'see' the truth.
That's why the Bible calls him "the father of ALL lies".

enlightment means to know the truth....truth about us about the nature.....i think every religion and every human being is for it......... and even if basic intonation of these religions are the same there are major differences in them.......ultimately religions are how different people view the same world differently eventhough they know it as the same

strange comment? well there are many different routes to get to the same place. apparently since theyre mainstream religions people see some validity in them.
instead of sitting there pondering the destination i reccomend enjoying the journey.
