Give it your best, and enjoy the time and the exercise and the fact that you are doing one of the things that you were designed to do..exercise,
The other advice is do not neglect your studies, nomatter what.
whether you will have football for highschool, or pursue it farther, try to maintain a balance in your life, such as Studies, and education first, social experiences, and making friends, girlfriends, wow,, you have so much to look forward to, and the load can get overwhelming, trying to do the balancing act,, but you are young and strong.
The thing i want to suggest to you that is one of the most important issues is your family.
I am soundiing like a preacher, giving a lecture, sorry about that.
Your parents make it possible for you to do omany things and support you, so, always take the suggestions seriously, and respect them, even if you disagree,
You can not make all your own decisions, even though you will want to,, trust your family, and include them in your life, school, and goals,
STAY AWAY FROM DRUGS
STAY AWAY FROM ALCOHOL
STAY AWAY FROM VIOLENCE AND PEOPLE WHO ARE LIVING "WRONG"
DON'T BE TOO BUSY TO PLAY WITH YOUR DOG, CALL A RELATIVE,RETURN PHONE CALLS TO LIFELONG FRIENDS, WHO MAY BE A LITTLE BORING,
LOVE GOD, AND INCLUDE HIM IN ALL YOU DO.
IF YOU HAVE NEVER CONSIDERED GOD, GIVE IT A CHANCE,
COUNT YOUR BLESSINGS
JUST KEEP YOUR MIND SET ON ALL YOU WANT TO BECOME IN LIFE, AND GO FOR IT,
SO .. "THERE IS IS"
p.s. wear your football helmut, and protection , for your '"FAMILY JEWELS"
Good luck,

I played varsity football.
Have a good atitude. You might not get to play very much this year. Be willing to learn a differant position if it will help the team or get you more playing time. Doing everything full speed. Play special teams. On the sidelines during the game pay attention to game and the only to the game. Learn the playbook from cover to cover. Coachs want somebody who knows what to do. You wont be the biggest or fastest player out there. Try and be one of the smartest.

I played football as well (4 years on varsity, 3 as a starter)... and wow, you are getting some great, great advice on this page!! Great answers from everybody!!
I can't really add any advice to what has been given, other than this: print this page out and keep it with you!
And make sure you keep your grades up!! You need to remain eligible, and you can't believe how much respect coaches have for players who are outstanding students as well...football takes up incredible amounts of time and energy, so create a schedule that will allow plenty of time for studies as well.
Best of luck to you! You sound like you'll do fine... the mere fact that you asked this question tells a lot about you (and it's all good!).
Go get 'em!

Playing football in school is a fulfilling achievement. However you must focus on the big picture. Make your studies your priority. In a couple of years you will have to start depending on yourself to make it in the world. Football does not prepare you for that,,,unless you get a scholarship. Still you have to have some goals of what you want for a profession.
If you're good...use football as a tool, but most important is your learning. That is what will define whether you live good, poorly, or so-so.

1) Respect your upperclassmen.
2) Know your assignment on every play. If you win your individual battle it goes a long way towards a successful play.
3) Have fun, high school football is one of the better times you'll have in life, especially if you don't go on to play in college.
4)Even if you are on the sideline pay attention to what the person in your position is doing.
5) Chicks love football players, go git some!

TEAM EFFORT will create a win - every game. Take yourself out of the stats and add the entire teams effort. The game is not about "I" it is a game of "US". Working together leaves little room for mistakes and a weak link!
