I went to a nice restaurant today and the hostess and one waiter was very rude. She did not greet me, did not give me a menu (she just pointed at a table and did not walk me there). I had to walk to the table myself and she didn't give me a menu. Customers that came in AFTER me, she walked them to the table and gave them a menu and they came in. I had to walk up from my table to the front and ask for a menu after waiting 5 minutes. I finally complained to the manager. I have ears and I could hear the waiter (The waiter was not my waiter but guy standing next to the hostess) talk about me and how I complained to the manager. Mind you this is a hispanic restaurant and everyone working there is hispanic and I am asian.
I complained before I got my order, does this mean they spit in my food? someone else served it to me from the kitchen and maybe I am paranoid. The food looked fine but I was just wondering if they retaliated.

I will never eat there again. I got the impression that I was not welcome anyways. All the hispanics stared at me like they have never seen an asian before. The waiter (not my waiter, he was standing next to the hostess who was rude too) glared at me and gave me the nastiest look for no reason.

Correction: everyone working there was hispanic on that shift except the manager who was caucasian. Yes I was the only asian person in that restaurant during that time. No I am not rude to assume they spit, because people I know have admitted to it.
And I don't want this turned around on me. I was not treated as a guest, I complained, so I should be pissed at them, and not the other way around.

No I was dressed normal/conservative. I was wearing khaki slacks and a collared shirt and I was groomed. So it has nothing to do with what I was wearing.

you know this happened to my sister and her boyfriend, and they are African American. i would report to the headquarters of that establishment file a formal complaint. try and remember the hostess names and the manager that was on that evening. make some noise . you are giving them green money just as anyone else, your color or nationality shouldn't base the cordiality they gave you or the hospitality that was not given. file a complaint i am telling you that is unacceptable. they have no form of customer service. i wouldn't let that go. then if you felt uncomfortable with that i would not have eaten the food i would have left

I believe you have learned the lesson of, "Don't complain until after you've received your food and all the pop refils you're going to need."

Were you the only Asian or non-Hispanic guest? If not, then I don't see why the fact that you're Asian is a factor.

Just because someone is mad at you, though, doesn't mean they spit in your food. It's kind of rude to assume they did. It might have happened, but you'll never really know. I just hope you checked it well.

I work at a resturaunt, as a Hostess, and NO ONE spits in peoples food no matter how rude the customer. They just complain, or have someone else take the table for them. Some of them go in the back and cry...Which I think is a pretty dumb responce. A few have walked out. But never have I seen anyone spit in food. This, of course, might not be the case in resturaunts that aren't part of a chain. I work at a Red Robin, where they are really strict with us. A family owned business that's not part of a chain can be very different with more lax rules. So, use that information to come to your own conclusions.

The service there seems very rude, and there is a high chance they did something to your food. My dad worked at a restaraunt in his college days and told me about the kind of stuff they did, such as serving drinks in dirty glasses, picking food of the floor, and, yes, spitting in it.

The waiter already seemed to be discriminating against you, and you gave him a further reason to spit in your food by complaining to the manager. I understand why you complained, but do it AFTER you have eaten. In fact, perhaps you should have left the restaurant before even ordering, when you saw how the hostess was treating you. There are plenty of other nice restaurants with equally nice employees. Why waste your time at the one you attended?

If you have any complaints, I'd advise you to voice them after your food has been served. The safest way is after you are done with everything and are ready to leave. A good way to get revenge on bad waiters/waitresses is through how much you tip them. Of course, if the service is as horrible as your situation, notifying the manager is another option.

Waiters really carry out slightly undesirable issues to human beings's nutrition. chefs will try this often times too. no longer all waiters are accountable. there are diverse waiters contained in the international who could under no circumstances do something like that. yet regrettably there are some who could spit or do a lot worse. that's yet another reason to be polite for your waiter/waitress no count number what. there is not any excuse for being a jerk no matter in case your order comes back incorrect, takes too lengthy, etc. cope inclusive of your waiter the way you'll favor to be dealt with contained in the region.

Probably. If they are capable of being this rude to you then its a possibility that they did spit in your food. I wonder why they were being rude to you. I am Hispanic and I know alot of other Hispanics and I can't think of anyone that has anything against Asians. Were you dressed a certain way? Well, I would have left that restaurant rather than complained. You shouldn't eat there again though.

If you ask me, you should have left after they didn't give you a menu. I would have told the manager how I'd been treated and would let them know word would get around about the rude wait staff. It's not too late to call them back and give them a piece of your mind!

I don't know if they spit in your food -- but it probably happens a lot more than you know. I saw on the news about a month ago how someone was fired from Taco Bell after a customer saw that she spit in his drink.

They probably did. Next time wait until after you eat and then ask for the manager.

Lots of Cubans are rude in restaurants in Miami if you are not Hispanic.

Report them to the Health Department. Tell the health department you had a roach in your food and were afraid to say anything at the restaurant.

you were right to talk to the manager. however your best course of action is to never return. if anyone asks just be honest about your experience [ this will do a lot more than you think ] . a satisfied customer may tell 10 people , but a pissed off customer will tell 50 people , words travel fast.

I would be very worried about complaining in a restaurant. You have no idea what people do to food in the kitchen.

there is no way to know for sure, but it sure is a possibility, you cant trust food in situations like that,

this is kind of like your profile information, they were idiots and you were in a no win situation with them. but its over and just chalk it up to experience and dont go there again, better yet, make sure to post the name of the place on here or anywhere else and tell others not to go there too, but dont dwell on it, just do what you have to do and move on.
