agree with Lynn Vancouver BC, Canada is the best city to live in, but canada might not be the best country to live in, here is my ranking...
1. Norway - for their crazy "craddle to grave" programs that they have there, kudos my norwegian friends.
2. Canada - self-explainitory. canada is awesome, but we are never first. our divorce rates are wickedly high too, what does that tell you? we dont really care about religion that much.
3. Switzerland - just because, for some reason, they weren't invaded by germany in the second world war and swiss army knives. a country the size of switzerland shouldn't be hard to govern.
4. Australia - who doesnt like convicted ancestors? everyone loves them. spending christmas on a beach, playing the dijeridoo
5. USA - this country would have been a lot lower but you only provided five countries so it couldn't go lower...

You need to consider a few things.
1) Level of freedom
2) Level of safety
3) Economic opportunity
4) Level of hospitality to new immigrants
5) Quality of life
I think USA scores well on points 1,2,4 and 5 but I'd be a bit worried about personal safety - terrorism and a gun toting society etc.
Switzerland I think is a bit xenophobic I think so scores poorly on point 4.
Norway I think has high taxes so badly on point 3.
Which leaves Canada and Australia.
It's really a question then of whether you prefer a hot, brown country (Australia) or a green, cold country (Canada).
It's all a bit of a simplification of course but I think that might help you!

All choices seems to be good choices. My final choice would be the USA. Since I live here, I strongly believe that it would not be right for me to jump ship when problems arise in the domestic level. I believe that for the USA to get better, the citizens of this great country should rise up and make it better. I heard a powerful quote from a speech that was from before I was born. This quote moved me in ways I did not understand until I got older. The quote is as follows: " Ask not what your country can do for you. Ask, what you can do for your country. " Hope that we have a better tomorrow.
