I just found out that my cousin's kidneys failed. he got put on a transplant list, and i want to find out if i can donate a kidney. if i'm not a match for him, i'd still like to donate a kidney, but i'm not sure if i could do it because of my age. i feel like this is a good way to help out someone and let them lead a better life.

You are a really amazing person and I really admire what you want to do, I hope all goes well for your cousin! This is what I found:

There are no age limitations on who can donate. The deciding factor on whether a person can donate is the person’s physical condition, not the person’s age. Newborns as well as senior citizens have been organ donors. Persons younger than 18 years of age must have a parent's or guardian's consent.

Hope this helps! :)

no age limit for kidney donation yes u must have a parent consent. if u are not a match u cant donate. my mother donated her kidney to me when i was 18 months old. that was 17 yrs ago. u should have a pretty good match because he is your cousin.

At your age, you should be able to, but only with your parent's concent.
Your kidneys should be fully grown now, by your age, and your recovery would be easier than an adult because you're still young.
It will be VERY painful for you..actually moreso than for your cousin, you're body will have to adjust to only having one kidney.
So, think about this very carefully and discuss this with your parents fully.
Encourage them to find out all the pro's and con's of your wanting to help your cousin.
You're a courageous person, I hope your cousin is able to find a suitable donor!
Good luck and blessings.

Well, talk to your parents. You need to be 18 or older to do this on your own, but your parents may aprrove.
