You did not mention your age, although it really doesn't matter. However, allow me to relate something that happened to my daughters best friend.
My daughter and her life long friend, Penny spent every waking minute together doing teenage stuff. When they were about 15-16, Penny' "met" this guy on the internet. For a few months, they chatted back and forth, she was in "love". She fought and fought with her folks that she was going to meet this guy, no matter what they said or did. Finally, Pen's dad agreed, but he would take her personally as a safety precaution. They traveled out of state on the prearranged date and met this guy. His name was James. James had sent Pen some pic's and appeared to be a nice looking guy for 25. When Penny and her dad returned my daughter was furious that she took such a chance. Remember both are about 15-16 yrs old. Dad agreed, and was bothered about the age, but he believed that she would be safer with him, than alone or with a friend. And, he rationalized, put this to rest once and for all. Pen had agreed after they met, that maybe he was to old for her. I guess he had lied a bit over the internet. My daughter had REFUSED to do anything to meet this guy.
My daughter was spending the night 2 days after they had returned but she and Penny had gotten in a fight and called us to come get her. Penny had heard from James and they were talking about her meeting him on the sly, he would come to her. Pen thought that was so cool, that maybe he wasnt too old for her afterall.
About 9am the next morning, my daughter calls to "make up". Penny answered the phone, barely able to speak. My daughter was upset, something was wrong, could we go there NOW. Five minutes later, we were at the door of Pen's home. Inside, we found the bodies of both her parents with Penny lying on top of the dining room table, naked with the phone in her hand. When my daughter called, the last thing she did was reach over to the wall phone next to her, knocking it down. Penny was barely alive, her throat slashed, covered in blood.
Upstairs in the bathroom was a note:
"james was here".
Penny died later that day. The coronor listed the time of death of her parents at just about midnight from blunt force trama.
My daughter called me at 10:50pm to pick her up. She was waiting outside, they were mad at each other.
My daughter life was spared that night, although it haunts me still that while she waited only a few minuets for me to pick her up outside in the dark, James could have been watching her from some bush somewhere. About a hour later, 3 people fought for thier lives, it was almost 4.
James was a nice guy, seemingly as Pen's dad would say the day they returned. You see, after this meeting, James decided that since Pen had not come alone, or with a man and he would simply follow them home. He would get his chance there for some "fun". His quote, not mine.
Penny was repeatedly raped with foriegn objects, beaten so bad she could hardly breath. Unfortunatly, when James sliced her throat, he just nicked her jugular vein and she slowly bled to death, conscience most of the time. You see, he continued to rape and beat her when he thought she was dead.
When James was caught and sentenced to death for the murders he was quoted in the trial as saying, "I hope I get to use the computer on death row" That was 8 yrs ago. He is still exhausting his appeals.
Now, ask again.... Should you meet a guy you met online?
