Being fit is an all around healthiness. It means that you have a good cardiovascular system, are flexible, have good eating habits, are active, and have a good amount of strength that allows them to do strenuous activity without straining a muscle or joint.

Being ripped is an extreme imbalance, and nothing like fitness. While peope who are 'ripped' may have a good cardiovascular system, they cannot be very flexible because, quite frankly, their muscles get in the way. Also, people who are ripped can have a very low amount of fat in their bodies, which can be very unhealthy, especially for women. Unless you want to be a professional body builder, just stick with fitness. Most body builders must commit their entire lifestyle to building their bodies, and have no time for anything else. That is why most normal people are either fit or unfit. I hope this answers your question.

Here's the thing... it's a subjective term. Basically this means everyone has their own littl definition of fit.

Most people will say that marathon runners are fit but then again those guys can't lift hardly any weight.
Powerlifters and bodybuilders (I'm aiming for those not using prohormones) are strong and ripped but most couldn't run a half marathon if their lives depended on it.

According to Webster:
"Fit- adapted to an end or design : suitable by nature or by art (2) : adapted to the environment so as to be capable of surviving"

So I guess in general it means that you are adapted well to whatever it is you plan to do. I consider myself very fit but while I can lift a lot of weight my cardiovascular system isn't really that great as I get winded easily.

And obviously we all know what "ripped" means. You don't have to be ripped to be fit.

Hopefully you get the point...

Being ripped usually refers to being very "cut." If guys are ripped then they probably have a really nice stomach and can see at least six of their abdominal muscles. Ripped for girls...I don't know. That isn't a term so much used for girls. Girls it is more "toned." Someone can be fit however, without being ripped. My husband is very fit and runs 2-3 miles a day but you cannot see he abdominal muscles.

LOL...total different. To be fit can be an average person who works out and keeps in fairly good shape with moderately low % of body fat. Being ripped is VERY low body fat% and defined muscle. Such as bodybuilders.

being fit is just that - you are in good shape, you are exercising and eating right - in general taking good care of yourself
ripped is muscle building - having definition to your muscles - riped is the six pack abs while fit is having no poochy belly and a healthy attitude about your life and body
