I've actually had a kidney disease a couple years ago and was hospitalized. My doctor thought I had the stomach flu, but it was actually a kidney failure. I don't think there is a possible way to prevent a kidney disease, even if you eat healthy and exercise. The way my kidney failed was because I had a sore throat, and the white cells attacking the germs in my throat had started to attack my kidney instead, mistaking my kidney for the enemy... but I thank God everyday for healing it, and so I didn't need a transplant. But the doctors advised me not to eat too much salty foods, and if you have any questions, just email me at optimisticgrl01@yahoo.com.

I currently have kidney disease and am waiting for a transplant. There is really no guarantee in preventing kidney disease. However as another person mentioned- good ways to make it harder for you to get it- is eat healthy- stay away from salty foods, don't overdrink frequently, get your blood pressure checked regularly. Kidney disease can be brought on from other diseases, I was diagnosed with Henoch Scholein Purpra- an autoimmune disease which ended up damaging my kidneys. Also try to maintain a health body weight, less weight means less stress on the kidneys. I currently have to limit my salt, phosphorus and pottasium intake.

I couldn't just sit around and do nothing like my doctors suggested.

They didn't want me to do anything or to take herbs or herbal remedies, but I had to try something - they just wanted me to do dialysis!

This program allowed me to take control of my health. I went from Stage 4 to Stage 3 kidney disease.

It was easy to do and my BUN, creatinine and anemia are all in better ranges.
