Hamburg because it is Hamburg. A seafarers port. It has the Reeperbahn/St Pauli ( a cross between Soho and Kings Cross ) you can let your hair down there. The Alster, international shopping, the Elbe, real people, sometimes hard to warm up to but go to the docks have a " Luett & Luett " , thats a Schnapps with a beer chaser, and talk and listen to the Dockers , you will enjoey. Is culter there, ofcourse Art, Opera, Theater and the thing is the real Hamburger ( not the one you eat ) is a human being, a rough shell but a soft core. Have fun. Cheers Klaus.

Florence. It has a lot of everything. It can have good weather, it has art, it has culture, it has discos, it has the beautiful people, it has good food, it has good architecture, it has a good feeling, it has history. People are pretty friendly, and a lot of people can speak some English.
This is why, if you can go to one city in Europe but only one city, then go to Florence.

I've traveled through parts of Europe, Liked Rome but was a little disappointed in general, I had different expectations. I liked visiting Berlin, Prauge, London, Kiel. I would definitely go back to London....I loved it there, I liked the atsmosphere. But everyone is different. I want to go to Italy again and Paris.

Living in the UK and working in the travel industry i've been very fortunate to have seen lots of places! My favourite European destinations are Prague (if you want fun & culture) .. and I love Barcelona .. which has more fun .. and still lots of culture.. if you are including the UK in your seach..then Scotland is beautiful (i live there:-)).. it's very scenic.. and the people are very friendly! Why don't you go to your local bookshop or library and browse through lots of books...it really depends on the type of holiday you are looking for! Nice/Cannes are lovely..for beaches etc but expensive..Paris is romantic but expensive.. Germany has lots of interesting things to be done in.. and is fun.. You can travel to the less touristy places..like Warsaw, Bucharest, Budapest etc... very interesting.. But go to Prague...my fave!! Happy travelling:-) (ps if you go in Winter time..its very cold) x
