I know the answer is a ton of cotton. It sounds funny, but it's real. When you take a ton of cotton and a ton of steel (they weigh like this on the earth) in the space, you find that the ton of cotton will weigh more. Becauz, the volume is more so the loss in weight is more for the ton of cotton. And becauz their weights are same on the earth, actually, the cotton weighs more.

If you have a ton of cotton, and a ton of steel and the word ton is used as in the actual weight measurement then that would mean they would be equally heavy.

Both have the same weight. A ton is a unit of mass. U can't change a ton depending on the material u would like to weigh.
