Also, my period was irregular to begin with...and I told the doctor this, and they said that I should take it anyways, and I started taking about a week and a half ago, would it still work?

You are in luck. The pill begins working immediately. However, if you want to be sure, Take it through an entire month before taking the condoms off. Beware, if you get sick, have diarrhea or throw up during the month, you should get back into using the condoms until you are healthy again. Lots of women get pregnant because they didn't know the pill loses it's effectiveness if you are dehyDrated. Ask your dr. Good Luck

If you begin the pill from the FIRST DAY of your period it is effective right away. I took the pill like this. My ex and I never used condoms and I never got pregnant. I used Orthro Tri Cyclen Lo.
