Salt along the baseboards, use Advantage, frontline and Capstar on the pets. Vaccum lots and put flea powder in the vaccum bag.

Use CapStar first then use Advantage the next day. You may want to talk to a groomer in the area to see what else you can do besides those two steps. That's what my groomer tells people to do here in Louisiana when the fleas get really bad. The CapStar gets rid of all the fleas on the animal's body within 24 hours and then all you have to do is put the flea treatment on the animal and treat the rest of the house if necessary.

Do NOT use Advantage AND Frontline like one of the previous posters suggested. I don't know if they meant both at the same time or one or the other but using both together will be putting too many chemicals on your dog's body. Also, if you bathe your dog, wait two days before or after you do so to put on the flea treatment. If you don't, you run the risk of chemical burn.

Good luck!

Apparently 20 Mule Team borax sprinkled over everything (carpet, furniture, etc) and then vaccumed up a couple of hours works. We have flea problem right now (4 dogs and 2 cats!) and as well as doing that, we just started using Frontline. I'm not sure what we were using before that, but hopefully it works. Just be sure to get in every nook and cranny and every bit of carpet and material you can clean. I've also heard that fleas like dark places, so be sure to get under as many beds and pieces of furniture as possible.

I have spent so much money on flea bombs. They really don't work! For the animal a professional flea dip. While that is being done get a service to spray every inch of your house. K9 Advantix monthlyafter that. Good Luck.........

Commercial products are not working.
How about a blend of essential oils?
2 drops of penny royal or peppermint, 2 drops of lemon, 2 drops of lavender, and 2 drops of cedar wood.
Throw in a spray bottle with 8 oz of water and spray inside and outside the home.
All can be bought at a health food store or on line threw some essentialoil.com out of Oregon.
Put it in a 16 oz bottle and use it on your dog or cat.

Frontline should do it. And be sure to buy them fresh. Once the dogs are flea free, then you might have to have you carpets shampooed or even replaced.

first wash the dog in a flea-killing shampoo. Then put on a high quality flea collar.
