I remember meeting a guy with partial Down Syndrome. He expressed his dismay that he never had sex but would like to. Also he said that he would like to have kids one day.

What would you say to a person with Down Syndrome who expressed that he wanted to have sexual intercourse?

Would you have sex with a person with Down Syndrome? Why or why not? If you wont then who would?

What if he wanted kids?

Are handicapped people forced to be celibate?

1 yes people with Down syndrome can have sex.
2. I would not have sex with a person with Down Syndrome because in most cases there is a mental impairment.
3. a person who expressed their interest in having a intimate relationship i would discuss the risks invovled.
4. As far as I know women with Down Syndrome can have children, But as far as the men I believe there has only been 2 men with DS who had kids( And that is still in question)
5. No handicapped people are not forced to be celibate.

Yes, they can and do enjoy sexual relations, someone with downs syndrome is still capable of loving and being loved. If someone with downs syndrome does have a child that doesn't mean the child will have it. I would have sex with anyone with a handicap or without. Do yourself a favor and talk to some people that are "handicapped" it will give you a good insight to other people. Good luck.

I'll look past the trollery to answer for reals. I've met a few people with Down Syndrome (or Down's, but not Downs). Some were highly functional, and I believe they could definitely consent. Corky from Life Goes On was probably functional enough, as is Ponce who plays Retarded Policeman on YouTube. But there are others who are more severe, and who could definitely not consent. So it's a case-by-case basis, I think.

People with Down Syndrome do have sex.
When I worked with them we had to teach them how to have safe sex.
Although I care about people with Down Syndrome I couldn't fall in love with them thus I would not have sex with them.
I did meet a developmentally disabled couple that were happily married. One of them died before they could have children. They are adults and should not and are not forced to be celibate.

no, they arent forced into celibacy but I think their chances of having intercourse are much less than the 'average' person because society puts so much emphasis on appearances and the image of normalcy. I dont know a lot about Down's but im not sure how much knowledge they would actually have about doin the deed, so theres that also. and i dont know if Downs couples could be together unchaperoned or if they can live without assistance so not sure when they would get the privacy to actually do those kinds of things. ive never really thought about this before though, good question man

What would you say to a person with Down Syndrome who expressed that he wanted to have sexual intercourse?
with me?
if i loved or was attracted to them i would but im usually not so it would be a no (probably)
in general?
i'd tell them to get a stripper or a girlfriend or a wife .. you know a woman or man whatever floats their boat.

Would you have sex with a person with Down Syndrome? Why or why not? If you wont then who would?
already answered that and if i wont then maybe a hooker would, they can't really say no can they? im sure if he/she offered the hooker enough money they'd take it.

What if he wanted kids?

if he wanted kids then i'd say no even if i did sleep with him which i probably wouldn't do in the first place.

Are handicapped people forced to be celibate?

they aren't forced to do anything but maybe society disowns them.

i am shallow and i know it.
can you answer the questions.

Of course they can have sex!! And they do!!! Im sure just like others he may have been in a situation where he is "excited" but the oportunity has not presented itself. I would not have sex w/ and downs person because I am married, I would not have sex with anyone else as far as that goes. but others might, I know 2 downs people who are a couple Im pretty sure they have sex, if the plumbing works, Ims sure their using it!!!! I think 2 downs people have a pretty good chance of having a non downs child.
some handicapped people are forced into celibacy, not by anybodys fault, just by circumstance, others are not, Ive worked with handicapped people, lots of them are sexually active.

My sister cares for Downs in community housing-She assures Me that they have a rather busy sex life. Contraception is an issue as most(not all) lack the skill to safely raise children. Sex with any mentally handicapped person by a "normall" person is statutary rape. Same as having sex with people in a coma, with dementia, drunk, not able to gve consent.
