Is your dog crying in his sleep or crying because he wants to be with you and doesn't want to go to sleep. Crying in his sleep is interesting and in fact I've never witnessed it. Perhaps your dog is dreaming. Maybe he or she just needs comfort and to feel protected. Make sure your dog has had his evening meal, plenty of water, a nice walk outside and a chance to go potty before bed. If all of his physical needs are met, then it would only be loneliness that you are dealing with. Is your dog sick, does he have fleas or ticks that could be bothering him? I hope my thoughts have helped. Good luck to you.

It's funny that I stumbled into this question because my dog was just doing that! I think she was dreaming so I woke her up. I don't know if there is a way to stop it. My dog has done it a few times before.

Some dogs cry while sleeping because they have dreams just like we do.

Your dog is just dreaming. If my dog looks like she's having a nightmare I just wake her up, pet her, and tell her everything is okay and that she's a good girl. I know, I'm lame, lol. Be careful if you wake her up, though, if you think she's having a nightmare, because upon waking she could snap at you if she was doing that in her dream. I don't think this has ever happened to me, though, maybe I'm just overly cautious.
