The Mexican flag is flown in the USA?

No one is dying from it.
No one is being harmed.
It is just an expression of one's country.
You can love two countries at once.
The law doesn't prohibit it.

So why do people complain? Just let the Mexican people express themselves and have fun while they also enjoy themselves in the USA. Just because they wave it doesn't mean they hate the USA and like Mexico better.

What do you think? (this is only mexicans in general, not illegals)

Ruby, most people just come here for the oppertunities America has to offer. They don't hate Mexico, they just know their live will be easier in America.

Their heart lies in Mexico, but they also love America.

JD, I said nothing about flying it over the American flag. Just flying it alone.

I don't think there's anything wrong with it. People should have the right to show love towards Mexico. It's a freedom just like freedom of religion and freedom of speech. So by complaining about it, Americans are basically violating what we're supposed to stand for.

I think it is every ones own right to express themselves however they want, as long as it doesn't hurt anyone. Just because they show the flag, doesn't mean they hate or dislike or like Mexico better than America (like you said) - all it means is that they are proud of their nationality, of their ethnicity, whether they were born there, or here in the US.
And it is not just Mexican flags, it can be any flag, and there shouldn't be a problem with it. Although more Mexican flags may be seen in areas more populated by Mexicans, others are seen in the same places and elsewhere. You can see Puerto Rican flags displayed in cars rear view mirrors (although Puerto Rico is US property), you can see Chinese flags in certain stores and locations, as well as British, Argentinean, Italian flags and so on...

The US has been described as becoming a "Melting Pot" - but the fact is, that it is not yet, and will probably not become (at least for a very long time) a "melting pot" completely. People assimilate to a certain extent, but everyone still wants to be individual and express their own culture and ethnic background... it is something big in the US right now... so, why should people get mad, when one group (for example Mexicans) do exactly this, and express their own culture and ethnicity. It is every ones right... and there really shouldn't be any problem unless it is being done in a way that it is hurting someone or could potentially provoke a problem which leads to someone being hurt.

Alone I don't mind it, but I am sure that even then, with a sign like 'this is our continent' it could be a sign of agression. I would mind it if that were the intent.

I have also several times seen the Mexican flag flying on homes in the Los Angeles area on the same flag pole as the American flag, but above it. That definitely offends me. I don't mind them being on two poles at the same height even if INTERNATIONAL protocol says the domestic flag goes higher. However, the other is a sign of purported conquest and let's just say it doesn't help the argument for amnesty.

A Mexican Flag when you put it up in the face of the Americans represents not only you, a legal mexican immigrant who believes in America also, but it also represents illegal mexicans who ran away from Mexico to be part of a prosperous economy.

When the Americans see a Mexican flag in their face, there is no way for them to know who you are and about your character, but the first thing that comes to their mind, is what is going on in US today and that is the monumental task of accomodating illegal mexicans.

How would you feel if you were still in Mexico, and somebody waves an American flag in your face every where you go in Mexico - that is at your job, at your shopping trip, at your farms and dairies, at your vacation trips, in front of your house, family and kids and so on? (of course I have dramatised the point here)

I am a non-American and I deeply respect true Mexicans. I like to know more about your culture and your problems in America- discrimination, oppression, supression etc. Please send an e-mail to stvenryn@yahoo.com. Thank you.

Personally, I don't like it at all. I think it is disrespectful. I am American born but now also have Canadian citizenship as I was naturalized, so have dual citizenship. I would never fly the Canadian flag in the USA and I would never fly the American flag in Canada. I think that if the Mexican immigrants care to have more support by American citizens, they should refrain from waving their flag around. They can hang it in the privacy of their homes or maybe even in their own back yard, but they should not just wave a Mexican flag around in the USA. At the very least, fly it BELOW the American flag.

Yes it bothers me. If they love Mexico then go back there and fly the flag there.

You might LIKE two countries at once, but you can only truly have allegiance to one. Take this example: Say US and Mexico were suddenly at war. You'd have to decide which country to fight/defend/or root for. It would be one or the other, but not both. SEE YOU CANNOT LOVE TWO Countries. You have to call one home and be willing to defend it from the other.

Nobody is dying because of a flying flag...but many people have died to keep the US flag flying. It disrespects them, their families, and their sacrifice to have a foreign flag flown all around town.

I don't object or care what you do. But I can understand why someone would object. Here is a group of people crying about wanting to be "American Citizens", and wanting to be treated equally by our country, and yet, they choose to fly a Mexican flag first? Why is that? If they would like to be citizens of the US, then wouldn't one fly the US flag over their "old country"? Sounds to many like they want to be Mexican citizens, but have all the "perks" they think US citizens have. Can't have it both ways.

All I am trying to do is let you hear the other side of the argument. I personally don't care how one expresses themself. They have every right. I just can understand the other side of it. I think you should look at that, too.

The problem lies in the fact that many Mexicans come enjoy the freedoms and opportunities of America yet stay loyal to Mexico. If one wants to become American, then be an American. I can't stand hyphenated Americans; If you put anything before American such as Mexican-American or Chinese-American, then you are showing where your loyalty lies.
