MSG (Monosodium Glutamate) is not a problem for most people unless they have an allergy or sensitivity to it. MSG is basically a highly refined form of salt. Allergic reactions vary from person to person and a wide variety symptoms have been reported as a result. Too much of any one thing is never good for you. The key is moderation. You probably have eaten a lot of MSG in your lifetime without even knowing about it. MSG has been blamed for a variety of ailments from headaches to obesity. It is present in things like soy sauce and processed foods. If you want to stay away from it, then read the ingredient labels on the foods you buy or eat. It is used by manufacturers to enhance the taste of foods that are otherwise lacking in flavor.

I wouldn't go so far as to say "laced" MSG is a spice. It is monosodium glutamate. It is the main ingredient in most chinese food recipes, and any cheese-flavored chips or crackers that you eat. It has some effects on people who are sensitive to it, or allergic to it. Those symptoms are different for everyone depending on the severity of the allergy. But, for most, it causes stomach pains that are related to an increase in acid. If you have any unusual swelling of the face or throat, you should seek an ER asap, otherwise, take some antacids. Good luck...

Believe it or not, a lot of commercially prepared food contain MSG. You are probably consuming it on regular basis.

MSG is made out of potato... and is a flavor enhancer. Most people tolerate it very well, but some people experience mild headache.

If you are curious, go to a store and purchase a product called Accent in spice section. It is a pure MSG.

I found, after a long time of using the process of elimination, that MSG gave me the NASTIEST migrane headaches !!! they used to make me fall to the floor.

After I went on a camping trip, and had no msg for a week It dawned on me that it might be the MSG. After trying that over the course of a couple months. I was convinced the MSG gave me those headaches.

people use the words "laced with" when it refers to illegal drugs. MSG is not a drug. Some people are alergic to MSG and alergies respond in different ways to different people. Probably headaches. Some people just walk around with a roll of toilet paper under each armpit.
