Do you choose ideas about self and world that best satisfy your need and aspiration to achieve and maintain happiness and good health? Do you choose to build a framework of myth and fantasy based on what is possible within the realm of mystery that produces the most powerful emotional responses of joy, faith and love imaginable? Do you choose to build a foundation of truth and knowledge based on scientifically reproducible discovery that produces the most powerful physiological responses of good health possible? Do you combine your foundation and your framework to form your model of self and world? Do you choose to behave according to a standard of conduct that best satisfies your need and aspiration to achieve and maintain happiness and good health? I wish us happiness and good health.

Yes, I choose ideas about self and world that best satisfy my needs and aspirations! But, we all know what we ideally think and what we act upon many times are two different things. We all know that anything in excess is bad, yet we as American (or human) persons seldom deny ourselves anything! So we do... in excess, be it drinking, smoking, eating, ... and we suffer for it, alcohlism, cancer and obesity. Our ideals and our realities sometimes, often times are not the same.
Do I choose to build a framework of myth and fantasy based on possibility.. well hell yes! "What if", is a very powerful statements will infinete outcomes. What if I turned left instead of right?, What if America chose German instead of English as its national language? What if Louis Pastuer never took up science? Our paths and destinies are shaped by our myths and fantasies. Remember myths many times are based in fact!
Do I choose to build a foundation of truth and knowledge based on science... no, emphatically NO... for here is where religion comes into the picture. Science does not prove the exstance of God or Gods! To science religion and faith and or spirituality is not a tangible thing and can not be proven. I yes a do make a difference between the two! I have seen people follow a religion and have no faith and people have faith and spirituality and follow no set religion!
I do combine it all, chaotically... but that is me! I work and thrive in chaos. It drives me and makes me, believe it or not, focused and productive! I admit my methodologies and thought processes are not easy to explain, but again, neither am I! I, as we all are whether or not we believe it, are very complex creatures! I live my life through my belief systems and the moral matrix that I have formed for myself. Am I above reproach... yeah right! Am I infallible... I am human what do you think? Do I do everything for my joy... I am a mother, a wife, I work at Lowe's... of course I do not do everything for my joy. Infact, I am probably the last on my list for that. But, I do not forget me. I know that I deserve joy and I try to bring joy to by day. As we all should!

I thank you for making me take stock of... well, me!

I wonder if this "Choice" thing has a lot of validity... Some say that everything is pre-destined, and that we are destined to choose eggzactly what we think are free choices... Speaking of some tough choices....Do you remember choosing to be born with a certain color of eyes?? How about choice in how tall you are?

I choose whatever it is that I choose to choose when I choose to make up my mind and make a decision at that moment. I am a free agent and live in a free country and everything hinges on choices from one moment to the next. Whatever it is that I choose has no impact on you so whatever it may be, you go ahead and choose what pleases you and I will choose the very best for me.......I choose black...........

That is a very good point you brought up. You sound very intellectual, lol. Seriously though, it is a good point, and I agree with what you say. I do believe people sort of twist reality to fit what is most suitable to them, whether conciously or subconciously

Umm, yes, I think we are all products of our environment, but I do believe we have a certain degree of freedom in our thoughts and choices.
