.Yes mom is being over protective, but in her defense I have to say that her job is very hard and it is difficult to make decisions that will affect the life of your child. Are you the only child? If you are that makes it harder on you, because she wants to keep you as long as she can. It is hard for moms to let go of their children. They have spent their lives protecting you. Continue to make the requests but maybe if you tell her that you understand how worried that she is and ask her what she thinks the most important lesson is in driving. Try to make her a part of the solution, instead of approaching her like an adversary

It's not the end of the world. I never took driver's ed. I live on my own now, and do absolutely fine without a car-- and I don't have to pay gas money or anything, either! It's awesome.

Talk to her while you're alone and let her now how you feel with out yelling. Ask her for her real reason for not letting you. If you ask ur dad to sign it it'll just make things worse with your mom so have your dad talk to her too.

She is scared to death !!! Thats what is wrong with her.....Everyday you see where teens are getting killed in car accidents and she is probably afraid...Give her a break...Let up about it for the time being, Give her time to think about it and maybe she will decide that you can do it

It sounds like she's extremely over-protective. Can't your Dad sign the papers?

Sit down with her (alone) and ask her why she won't allow you to learn how to drive.........I bet there is something she is not telling you (a good friend died in a car accident at a young age, or a family member)............Have patience with her dear, she's just a bit overprotective............

I would want to know why she's acting this way. Has she lost somebody who was behind the wheel, or, what? Something is scaring her, & its up to you, or your Dad, to find out just what's bothering her about this.

Maybe she'd rather you brushed up on your English skills instead of devoting your time to driving?
