I'm not sure how old u r, but they will have no choice, but 2 get over it cuz it's not like it's a bad thing. Eventually when they c u r serious about this they will come around. when I had my daughter yrs ago I couldn't fiqure out y she wouldn't eat meat and this wuz since day 1 when she started eating and I would get upset cuz she wouldn't eat and she was like 4yrs and so forth and then I figured it out she wuz gonna grow up 2 be a vegeterian and I excepted that I actually thought it wuz great and when she got older she decided 2 eat meat and then tried 2 go back 2 being a vegetarian and I told her we could both do it, however it didn't wk out 2 good because ur body starts looking 4 the protein fm the meat, but if ur use 2 being a vegetarian great I think. Give them some x and keep letting them know that u have no interest in meat.

Just follow your own set of rules. If they are making a dinner that includes meat, don't throw a temper tantrum. Just eat whatever is there that isn't meat involved, or make your own food. Make healthy choices. Not just pasta all the time. They will see over time that you are healthy and can be responsible for your own diet.

You should educate yourself thorougly on the subject. As they say knowledge is power! If you read about vegetarian (check www.wikipedia.org and search vegetarian or anywhere else) I think the main issue is the large amount of protein that you need that meat provides. However Legumes (beans) and nuts can provide the compensation necessary for absence of meat in ones diet. My girlfriend is in college for nursing and I browse through her diet and nutrition textbook out of curiosity. As I said before dedicate some time to searching (library, internet, etc) for lots and lots of information on vegetarian diet and arm yourself with knowledge (sorry parents!!) you can probably teach them benefits and facts about your preferred diet they didn't even know.
GOOD LUCK

Tell them that U.S. Government studies have proven that a vegetarian diet will result in 4% lower serum cholesterol than a meat diet consisting of the exact same amount of fat and calories. Other than that, I wouldn't worry about it too much - what you eat should be up to you, within reason, and its reasonable to want a 4% lower serum cholesterol level!

They may feel that you are not getting enough protein in your diet. Look up some information on vegetarian diet and what you can add to it for protein and explain to your mother and show her that your protein intake is adequate. Now are you one of the vegetarians that think that a McDonald's hamburger is not meat.

Probably the best way to get your parents to accept you choice of diet, is to request to speak to your doctor or to a nutritionist. Once they understand that you can live a very healthy life without eating meet, and once this is sanctioned by a professional... they may stop worrying.

I guess you need to keep on telling them until they accept it. You don't have to eat meat, I don't know why they are having difficulties getting over the fact that you are a vegeterian. What's so wrong with it?
