Because people are brainwashed into believing this is acceptable.

Religions have traditionally been intolerant, it is nothing new.
All religions share the same market place and a gain for one religion is a loss for the others which is why they spend so much money on missionary work to increase their client base,
They are especially intolerant of people who have no religion (atheists) as this undermines the whole religion industry.

Unfortunately because people have been brought up to believe certain things and they just aren't open minded enough to accept the fact that maybe they're wrong. Not to mention the fact they shouldn't be forcing their opinions on others. Religion will be the fall of this world. We're headed there right now. But you also have to let people be whatever religion they want, so unfortunately we can't just do away with religion.

For the same reason YOUR intolerance is accepted. It's called the First Amendment. Check it out some time.

I call it "crowd mentality"

As a proud American, I have served my time in the military... Unfortunately it was during a time of war. "desert storm"

I have been shot at and have also shot at others! While this was going on, I kept telling myself that I was doing this for every single American alive. To do my part in upholding the wonderfull life that this country allows you to achieve. So that people can work where they want to, raise a family in a safe environment, and pray to what ever God that they want to. I told myself that these people that we were fighting were trying to take that away from me and you! I know that I wasn't the only one who saw it that way. Now we have these kids fighting a war doing the same thing that I did!
Are the Christian extremist telling me that they don't have to respect the freedoms of others? I would be very carefull if I was in their shoes! They need to look at the big picture! We (as a country) are killing people and blowing up cities to protect the same freedoms that they are trying to deprive others from experiencing!

People who are against religion are intolerant, religion is about choice and freedom not about getting everyone to loo, act, be, smell, talk, eat the same. That unfortunatley is the reality of everyday secular/non christian life. Remember that star wars movie, attack of the clones.....You need to think about it, again.

You have some serious issues with religion and Christianity. What did they do to you? Not all are the same. A logical, intelligent thing to do is to do your own research on religions before making a basis that all are bad.(For example; trying out a variety of churches).

because religion-like politics is a subject that people are passionate about. their thoughts and beliefs run deep and they fully believe them, they are in a way standing up for what they think is right-they dont actually see it as intolerance. ever religion believes they are the right and only way.

in response to your question let me ask another......
after looking at today's religions page, why is your intolerance acceptable in Yahoo answers?.... you dislike christianity, but like every other person with your opinions as soon as we try to discuss the point back with you, you come off with the age old "i thought you where supposed to be a christian". Christians aren't perfect. only God is.... why don't you try taking your point up with Him... Prayer is the key to your questions. God is the only one who understands your heart enough to answer the real questions you need to know.
God bless and be with you

sound like you don't want to tolerate me.

Just because I'm a Christian. Why does that give you the right to be so intolerant? Why do you have to be so bigoted against us?

Guess you only see what you want to see oxy

Actually, it is because there is a truth. People who think that truth is relative want everyone to think like they do. You guys tend to be intolerant of people who believe in absolutes. So you defeat your own argument.
