Ok, so I know that a lot of people are nervous of starting senior year of high school and graduating, but I'm absolutely mortified, is this normal? I feel like I have just started High school, not to mention I'm the youngest in my grade, I'm supposed to be a junior this year but I started early when I was in kindergarten, anyways, is this normal? everyone is talking about how they can't wait to get out of high school and how its going to be great but I'm not, I'm scared, I know I'm going to college (community first then transfering to a 4-year) but I'm still scared, I'll still be living with my parents for two years and maybe more if I get into a California University but I'm STILL scared, I feel like I have to all of a sudden grow up and I can't be a kid anymore, I've talked to my parents and they said not to worry and its normal and that I can stay at home as long as I want, but I guess the real problem is I'm afraid of being in the "real world" outside of my sheltered suburb life, any advice? sorry this is so long.

It will be great! definitely more opportunities and fun than middle school I would say:) I'm not sure what middle school is like in the U.S. but you can go off school property for lunch (I could do this already in grade 7), a different teacher for every class, more homework (just a bit, it won't be overwhelming though). Less I would say and also less drama:) all my high school memories are amazing so far! (I start school tomorrow) but high school is what you make it. You have to get involved and participate to make it a good experience. Being excited and scared is normal:) you will be fine I promise! Just tell teachers to call you Jason. In Canada when we first register for school (we only register for high school once and if we want to switch schools the documents are switched over) the first thing on the sheet asks what our name is and what our preferred name is. My friend's name is Kristin but she was adopted and unofficially named Ocean so under her preferred name she wrote Ocean and that is what she is called. So just aware the school of that:) yeah, there's a few people who have nick names and that's understandable. I knew a girl who was from Thailand so she had a gorgeous long name but it was hard to pronounce so everyone called her Toey. Anything else? email me. I assure you, you will be fine:)

Being a senior is usually scary because now you're the person that the underclassmen look up to. Think about how you thought about seniors, maybe its scary for you to think others will be focusing on you. As for your plans for college, I did the same thing. While I do think its a great idea for some careers, for careers where you need to meet people, scientists, political scientists, or other jobs where "who you know" really counts, I recommend going to a 4year college. You meet a lot of people and because you spend so much time away from home you're able to develop into someone apart from your family. ANYWAYS... yes its perfectly normal to be scared to be a senior. However its also very easy to not be scared anymore. You don't have anyone looking down on you anymore. You can act however you want, start trends, be yourself. Its a great time, just don't go to too many parties and keep away from senioritis!

Its hard to believe that its been a year already since I graduated from high school but I can tell you from my own experience that what your are feeling is completely normal...change is always a very scary thing but you will see that its not as bad as it all seems and dont' worry...Senior year is the best year of your life...don't spend the whole time worrying about your future have fun with your friends, because as sad as it may be this could be last year you will all be together...so instead of spending all your time worrying, spend your time having fun and making memories with your friends in the end you will be glad that you did. Good Luck :)

Why are you scared this is your last year in high school so you should have fun and stop worryin about you growin up beacuse that what life brings, you cant stay the same age forever. High school will only be experinced once so go out there and just enjoy that you are almost done with high school and keep on moving toward you next goal. Trust me the first months you will miss your friends and all but we have to keep on going foward and find what else life has in store .Well i wish luck and stay fouced and all your fears will go away.

Well going to college for me was pretty frightening as well. But it turned out to be the best thing that happened to me. You branch out, start living on your own, figure out what you really like to do!, and trust me, you don't really start getting into the real world in college. That comes after college. College is just a taste of adulthood. AND its great!!! Don't worry. I suggest going to a four year college too. Community college is great but it doesn't offer the contacts and the variety of people you would get to meet if you went to a 4 year.

I don't know the direct answer. But I believe that you are just afraid that this is the end of a 12 year run with everyone you know. College is pretty imtimidating at first.. but visit it a few times before you start and go through orentation and you will adjust very fast.

it is absolutely normal. think about it, if you weren't worried, life would be alot boring. my dillemma is im finishing college and trying to start my career. im excited and scared at the same. im excited to start whatever i can do and scared if im gonna get there. life is a balance of fear and confidence. we need them both. we go through this stage all the time. first day of kindergarten, you obviously went passed that. same with grade school, junior high, and now finishing high school. just enjoy now, worry and be excited. thats what makes life interesting.

Eep, I'm going into my senior year as well! I totally understand what you're going through. A friend of mine once said, "It's like every year you know where you're going because it's just 1st to 2nd, 2nd to 3rd and so on, but your senior year it's like being pushed off a bridge and you just hope you land on something soft." All of the sudden, we have to pick majors & decide on careers, while they tell us we'll change our minds 4 times anyway...it's all extremely daunting!
I would say just try to have fun because you're still young & you still have plenty of time to grow up! You only get your senior year once, try and make it memorable! =)
Best wishes!! <3
