I dont get it. I was at a wedding sitting and eating with some people I didn't know too well - they were talking about relationships and when they asked me if I'm involved and I said 'no.' Then some girl asked me "Well, what about in the past?" - I told them that I've never been involved with anyone before - a virgin basically.
They couldn't believe it for some reason. Then the table became quiet and no one really talked to me afterwards - I felt pretty discriminated against and also as if they were trying to embarass me for being a virgin with gossip. I have no problem saying that I'm a virgin - I'm not at all ashamed by it at all, but rather empowered that I don't 'give in' to any sexual impulses which makes me feel that I'm in complete control of myself.
I dont understand whats so bad about being a male virgin at 37, or really what there is to be ashamed of. With all the sex on TV and everywhere shouldn't one actually feel a little empowered that they can control it?

Well, you are too full of yourself. You are rigth to an extend: It takes a lot to be able to control oneself but there is nothing wrong with sex with the right person. Sex doesn't make you bad. If it wasn't for sex you wouldn't be in this world. You are almost 40 and there is nothing wrong with being a virgin if you are a priest, hardcore christian or hoping to be the next start in the 40 year old virgin sequel. I knew a woman who was 41 and was still a virgin.... She was a christian missionary however. You can't use enpowerment as an excuse to not being able to hook up and get laid ever at all. And seriously there is no such a thing as being DISCRIMINATED for being a virgin.

With all of the disease around today it is a good thing. I think though that you may be a control freak...or you lack control in another part of life and making up with it by not having sex...control over something about yourself. There is not anything wrong w/ being a virgin, but maybe examine why you are depriving yourself of love, intimacy and passion beyond your wildest dreams.

No,No. Please its a great thing. That is One of my wishes to have waited. But there so many that have done it as early as 8 or 10 YO. They don't know any better. Because if people actually sat back and really thought about it. Their lives would have been so much more less complicated if they hadn't slept with all football or cheerleader team or the person they met 2 hours ago. So to bad for them that they haven't known your inner peace.

It is not a bad thing as long as you are being true to yourself.
You are the exception to the rule. People discriminate/ignore what they do not understand.
When it comes to self control you are a 100% empowered man. (Self-control is something you can treat other men).

Because most people can wait that long. I'm 34 live alone and I did long time ago. It's just it's not the normal thing. There isn't anything wrong with it. If you are and are happy be proud. I wouldn't care what anyone thought.

Nothing is wrong with being a virgin. If you are in fact a virgin, there is nothing wrong about it if that's what making you happy. But your view on sex in general is wrong. Sex is not about control. Sex is about giving and receiving love. The ability to give and receive love, that what sex is about. When a woman wants to make love to you, it is not because she wants to control you. She wants to make love to you because she wants you to feel the most beautiful and treasurable that this world has to offer. And when you make love to a woman, it is not because you want to control her, it is because you love her and therefore want her to feel good, and have children with her. That what life is about. I am sorry those people were rude to you.
