Yes, because those who choose to take care of their health shouldn't have to sacrifice some of it for the sake of the few who don't.

You know I'm not a smoker and I don't ever plan on smoking. I really think it would be a great idea to ban smoking in all public places, but I know that smokers believe it's a total inconveinance. I feel for them, I really do. I know that most people get into smoking young and get hooked fast. It's really hard to quit and definately takes some self perseverence. Not everyone can quit and I understand. Being a non-smoker and someone with asthma, it really would benefit everyone if they lessened the areas where people can smoke.
The summer before this one, I spent my time in Germany and they don't have the strict smoking laws that California has. I think the best thing that the state of California has ever done is ban smoking in restaurants. I know the whole time I was in Germany I had really bad breathing problems and being in a room where everyone smoked like at Disko's was horrible for me. I was sick all the time, and always had a headache because I wasn't used to the smoke.

The smoking ban issue is interesting,,, to say the least. I remember when people used to smoke in doctor's offices, movies theaters and air planes.
Because 2nd hand smoke is medically proven to be harmful, yes, it should be banned from public buildings. Some states ban smoking within 40 feet of a private building. I think that's a bit excessive. Out in the open air, I don't think 2nd hand smoke is an issue.

I think that they should not even continue to produce cigarettes in the U.S or anywhere else because more and more young people are getting cancer in the futer from smoking parents or just someone smoking around them.More and more people are getting lung cancer and blood clots from these nasty habbits.I mean why not go play ball or sit and play on the computer. There are so many better things to waste your time and money on.My parents smoked and i regret it because i never got many things nice. And the truth was that if my mom had never smoked or my dad i would be more healthier and would have had a way better childhood. Please if you smoke and are reading this, take my advice quit fast and for those who don't smoke and think of trying it, don't do it never ever!Or else you will end up like my dad which i am still sad to this day that he died of lung cancer.I really hope that i answered your question.

Yes, smoking should be banned in all public places.
Lung cancer is the #1 killer of cancer last time I checked.
And for more than the health aspect too.
I choose not to smoke, if people in restaurants are smoking, the smoke makes its way into the air I breathe and takes away my freedom of choice. How is that any different from me walking around the restaurant and sprinkling pepper or tobasco sauce on everyones plate without asking if they want it?
Or squirting them with my favorite cologne?
They have the right to choose and so do I. So do you!!!!

Yes!! Why in the world should me AND my family, who are healthy and try to keep ourselves that way, have to put up with cigarette smoke, which has been proven dangerous when breathed in 2nd hand? And the fact that people willingly go out and spread it around to healthy people, risking not only their own health, but the health of others, just makes me sad and angry. I understand that it's hard to quit, but why should I have to suffer through it with the addicts too? I have wisely chosen to keep myself from cigarettes, and have respect for my body. I think I should be able to go where I please and not have to worry about it hurting me, or my precious little girl. Sorry if this makes smokers mad, but think of what you're doing to people. (p.s. where I'm at in Texas, it's a law that public areas must have a completely separate, closed in smoking section, but now they're finding out that it still spreads and endangers everyone. It'll never be enough until it's banned for good.)

Totally. They just passed that law in my city and I am so excited about it! If people want to smoke, that's their business but I don't think non-smokers should be dragged into it when they want to enjoy a meal or whatever. Even when restaurants do have smoking sections, it always seems to waft into the non-smoking area. Secondhand smoke is a killer, too, and the smell just kind of ruins a meal or any experience for that matter. Just take it outside, it's not that big of a setback if smoking is something you absolutely have to do.

Perhaps the government should give cigarette companies the choice of a all out ban, unless they can design and produce a portable device that would allow smoking inside with the smoke going anywhere but into a filtering device. A face mask type of device that you put a burning cigarette into and strap it on.

smoking should be banned in all indoor public places, when i go out to eat i don't wanna get chocked because someone made a bad life decesion. non/smoking sections don't help this problem very much. Outdoors, there is usually more room. But if you're choking someone you should have the decency to stop.

Heck yea! I hate smelling that stinking cigarette! Yuck- it's not only harming the person who's smoking, but those around them. They should only do that a certain distance from public places or in their own homes. No offense to those who smoke, I don't hate smokers, just the act of smoking.

I can see making resurants a non-smoking place. I don't like eating in place filled with smoke. Now..........bars and clubs are different kinds of places (also if smoking was banned, they would probably loose alot of business). I don't think smoking should be illegal in them. I don't think smoking should be illegal for someone walking down the street.
Clothing stores.........clearly understandable.
And for the arguement of "Its not fair cause it effects other people". Who gives a ****? Alot of people do alot of things that effect alot of other people. Its life, be an adult and deal with it.
