I was born and raised in chicago. We called it pop. When I moved down south though, everyone would pick at me for saying pop. I got into the habit of calling it soda. That's what I call it now.

Great question! I always said 'pop' (I'm from Kansas) until I moved to Maine and everyone made fun of me. Then I started saying 'soda' until I moved back to Kansas. I think I'm still saying 'soda' but everyone here says 'pop'.

I came from Michigan where we said pop. But I recently moved to Utah and everyone says soda. My eight year old is a michigander cause she still says pop, but my youngest says soda.

I say soda and Im from Chicago, Illinois. I guess I just always felt that saying "pop" sounded old-fashioned, something that my grandparents would say and that soda sounded "cooler." Maybe that's just me being silly, but I prefer saying soda.

I grew up in Minnesota and we said pop. Here in Illinois where I live now most people say soda and some even say sody, sodie, sodey. Don't like that cuz I'm not even sure how to spell it. People here also say apricot with a long a, we said it with a short a. They also say zinnia with a long e sound here, we said it with a short i.The one that makes me so crazy though is sunda instead of sunday for sundae.
