My adorable cat has been making frequent trips to the litterbox lately, I've noticed.
Today, I watched her to see if she had a normal bowel movement or not but instead saw her squat down (with plenty of room, mind you) and a stream of urine completely missed the litterbox and instead actually shot out directly behind her and OVER the litterbox, onto the carpet.
That surprised me. Is this indicative of something or was it just bad aim?

PS - No, she is not spraying. She has been spayed.

Oh, and while we're on the subject - I have another question.
I've noticed lately that when she is butt side up against a wall, or really, butt side up against ANYTHING, her tail flickers in a really weird way as though she is marking her territory...what the heck is she doing????

I have a female siamese and the same situation , noticed as she was using the litter that her butt was way up in the air and the urine streeam was missing the litter, immediately I dashed to her and pushed her butt down lower as she finished petting her .... she seamed to understand and she has not missed since....
the other question, I have many cats female and male... all my males are fixed and my females are not ...... I watch my cats all the time as the are my pets, companions, and friends.... I can say from years of experience with my cats males will spray (so I fix mine) and females can flicker their tail as a spraying cat would, if nothing was coming out (urine) you need not to worry.
I do own one female that sprayed a few times till I noticed then she got what all unruly cats in my house get THE SQUIRT BOTTLE ...... just a couple quick squirts and presto bad habits are terminated......

The Amber Child does this. When she was at the vet's and in a cage waiting for some treatment or other the vet saw her do it too and he said he had never seen that before.

That flickering of the tail against the wall can be a precursor of a good spray or just as expression of general excitement.

If she's having trouble pooping you should get hetr to a vet. It could be serious.

As for spraying, females sometimes spray, though they're nowhere near as compulsive about it as males. If kitty is a sprayer, being spayed wouldn't necessarily change that.

Females don't tend to be territorial. She may have a urinary tract infection and I would take her to the vet so she can get an anti-biotic to make her feel better. Good Luck with your cat.

She may not like the litter that you used in the box. Maybe her feet or other body parts are alergic too it. Call the Vet and take her in. She is a precious part of your family.
