Pain on left side under the ribs could be angina... as in your heart is telling you to go see a doctor.

is a common symptom of many things, but more than likely if the pain comes on after eating a meal....anywhere to right after a meal or within an hour or so, it could just be the the pancreas trying to keep up with secretion or the production and transmission of glucose.

(i hope i stated that right...was a concern of mine and i think that is how the doc explained it)

i still get it every now and then too and it hurts worse when i try to breath in and almost always after eating chinese food. (soy and sugars)

The gallbladder is on the right side. The left has the stomach and pancreas.
