I believe that you do a major disservice to both ideas if you try to reconcile them. If you believe in both except for where they disagree and then totally bastardize them to try to make them fit together, you're twisting science and rewriting your religion.
If it comes down to the point that you have to believe one in your head and one in your heart, that's fine, but don't taint the purity of either by trying to squeeze them into the same frame.

The creative days mention in the Bible were 7000 years long according to our way of measuring time. 7000x6=42,000 creative years.
How much time pass between creative days is not mentioned.
God created the Heavens and the Earth.
Genesis is written from the stand point of being on the earth looking outward into the heavens above. The Big Bang Theory is very logical even from a biblical view because the way we measure liner time, began at the event of the Big Bang Theory.
Evolution of lower living animals turning into man is not supported in the bible since God created All things.
Creation of man, God instilled the need to worship his creator, lower life forms even today, do not erect buildings for worship or fashion anything to worship.
Man is the only creation on earth that asks this question and we should be grateful that the Bible was written so long ago, over 40 men were used in a time period of some 1600 years and we have hope a of surviving Armageddon and living forever on a Paradise Earth

God caused and effectted evolution. The creation myths (note the plural) are part of the oral tradition of the Hebrew people, as there are many creation myths from other early cultures. If the creation myth in the Bible is taken literaly, the Earth is just under 6000 years old, menaing that:
1) most starlight is not possible (because most stars are over 6000 light years away)
2) there were never dinosaurs
3) there could not have been either an ice bridge between Asia and America and
4) therefor there coould not be Native Americans here to greet the European explorers
5) there could be no diamonds
6) there could not be vast oil fields

I'm glad you asked this question, I believe in both creationism, and some aspects of evolution, most notable natural selection. I believe creationism to be true, simply due to faith. However, you cannot reasonably dispute the fact that some of evolutions' foundations are untrue. Hand sanitizer, for example, or bleach, we know that germs which are living organisms, exist, and we know that the bottle says kills 99.99% of bacteria. Now it has also been proven that that .01% can still live and reproduce, creating a bacterium with greater resistance to the substance, which is pretty much the basis of natural selection i.e passing on traits that are most beneficial to survival. I don't see anything wrong with this belief, and I believe that creationism believers can in fact subscribe to the evolution belief in a very peaceful manner as I have. Now as a side note, I don't think we came from monkeys or anything along those lines, but we do share many characteristics.

Yeah right, he created the world in 6 days and then spent the next 100000 years planting evidence about evolution to confuse us...come on people....everyone will tell you that faith is not about proof and that you should just believe because this is the right way. So ignore all evidence, shut down all logic, close you eyes, ears, and mind, and just believe that one day there was nothing and there was god, and then 6 days later there were humans and the whole universe around us.....I just think that if you try to see the big picture for a second you'll realize why things are the way they are.

Katharine Jefferts Schori (Presiding Bishop-elect of the Episcopal Church of the USA) saw no contradiction between evolution and christian beliefs (in a recent time magazine interview). The only issue is one's theological concepts of god -- if one takes things literally, then there will be a problem. Some theologies say that God is real and has nothing to do with the creation of this world and bodies, etc. The issue is not God and science but, rather, concepts of God and, yes, concepts of science. They can both be different ways to get to the same thing -- or to separate -- all depends on one's intent.

I believe in both. God created the universe, the vegetation, the animals and the first 2 people. After that life evolved from the first creations. God started the evolution process

They are quite reconciled in my beliefs. I belive that God, through his power created the universe, but it worked under natual laws. I think that the word day in the bible is more of a time period then an actual 24 hour day. I do not pretend I know anything about it, and have faith that one day I will know how it all happened. Until then, I am fine with saying that we are a created species that has adapted to different enviornments.

Definitely. In the Beginning, God Said, Let there be LIGHT, and BANG! There was light. God uses evolution as a tool. Proof? Without God, Evolution violates the real laws of thermodynamics and statistics. With Him, it works smoothly. The Days of Creation can easily be reconciled with science when you realize that 'day' can mean 'time' in the original language. It's a bit tricky here and there, but it can be done if you want to.

The statment that evolution has been disproven is rather silly. If we did not understand evolution we would not have half the medicines we have today. Thinks science!
As for creation, what educated person still belives that?
There is now way I can see a scientfically proven fact to be merged with a conflicting religious belief.

Creation ......... Genesis 1:1 --- In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth . John 1 - 1: 3 --- In the beginning was the Word , and the Word was with God , and the Word was God.
