I had 2 Mri's done. The first was for my back it was an open mri. they played music i heard the noise from the machine but nothing really bothersome. they found i had a pinched nerve and a buldge disk. The second was for my head. I went to a place that had a openupright mri. I watched tv and fell asleep on and off the test was 30 mins. the noise did not bother me. all turned out well. Are you going for an Mri? or were you just wondering? if you are going good luck.

The one time I had an MRI it was rather disconcerting. Just as it was almost over I had a seizure. So from now on I will be using ear plugs and a sedative. I didn't expect it to be that loud, but it also wasn't very long either. Results were negative, which was good.

I've had 4 MRI's now of my head\brain(I have MS). They're really not so bad. The key is to keep your eyes closed and listen to music-either bring along your fave CD-or they should have a plalylist for you to choose from. The tech will also give you a panic ball to squeeze in case you need out. MRI's are very accurate esp, if the inject you with gadolinium- the contrast used to enhance and abnormalities they may find. Yes, it can get kinda noisy-lots of clanging and banging but it really isn't so bad. Good Luck!

Have had several. I buy ear plugs at the pharmacy. Usually try not to sleep the night before so I usually sleep through all the noise. I do the same when I go to the dentist. Hardest part is being still.
Yes my results were good. They found my brain.

My seven year old at the time had to have her first MRI. I tried to prep her for it the best I could. Told her it would be like a very loud version of STAR WARS sounds...
My daughter has ADHD. It was so hard for her to sit/lay still. I was told it would be 20 minutes..It ended up being about 45.
I don't know who it was harder on, her or me. She handled it like a trooper. They played music for her in there, dunno if she could totally here it or not.
I was in there with her too for the entire time. I just reinforce that it would be ok, think happy things...Picture things like spaceships and stuff from the noise..
I was so proud of her. She did it. And, unfortunately, we go back every year to have it done. Hopefully that won't be forever.
I wish you luck. You can do it. It is loud and long. But, it is a very good way to test for alot of different things..
Good luck and Peace....

I've had numerous MRI's in my life due to complex migraines.
The noise is really not bad at all, it's just a loud CLACK CLACK CLACK sound. The radiologist can see you through the glass (they are in another room) and they can hear you and you can speak with them.
People are less bothered by the noise and more often disturbed by the enclosed space, but even that is of no concern as long as you are not claustrophobic.
I just have had so many, it doesn't even bother me anymore.

Yes, I have had several MRI's. They are quite noisy. I wore earplugs, and then headphones that totally covered the ears. This only dulled the noise, but what are you going to do?
No, I didn't get good results. But I got the results I expected.
Like the song says: Oh blah de, oh blah dah, life goes on ohhhh.

I have recently had 3 head MRIs. I used ear plugs provided by the techs. I also found a wash cloth over my eyes was helpful. Yes, the results were good.

No it was really a test of my ability not to get out of there and run.I am claustrophobic and even tho I was in an open unit, the noise was frightening to me and it was rough to go thru,I hope I don't have to have one again at least any time soon.I didn't expect it too be that loud and long and to have to remain still when my entire body wanted to run.The test went well tho so it had a happy ending.I hope yours did as well.:)

I learned how to block out noise from having children. The noise wasn't hard to deal with during the MRI. It was having to keep my leg in a bent position for so long so they could see if I had torn cartilage in my knee. I did and ended up having surgery.
