Cortisone shots are never a long term solution. They sometimes work for a while, however it is very individual. May give you relief for a week or maybe for several years.

It's not an approach I'd take, because it doesn't solve the problem and long-term steroid use can have unpleasant side effects. Surgery is the recommended treatment, but consult with your doctor.
