There is no real way of answering this question. Chances are just that chances.
I have 20 years in the military and have not gone to a combat zone, I know others that spent 6 months in and were deployed, so it is difficult to say.
I would be inclined to think that it is very possible though considering that we are involved in several situations around the world.

If you join the navy it doesn't matter if there is a war or not. You will get deployed. The navy is the only branch that is always forward deployed. You will have a very good chance that one of your deployments will go to the Persian Gulf. Good luck on your decision, but if you are joining for college money first, and defending this nation second I wish you wouldn't join.

You will probably go to war, but if you are in the Navy you will most likely be on a ship.
I just talked to a Marine and he said all of his Navy buddies are on ships while he gets to be on the ground and blow stuff up. BTW, he's a demo expert.

If your not willing to go to war and fight for the head man in office and any moment, then don't join. It is a serious commitment to defend one's country... I don't think the guys in Iraq necessarily feel they are doing that in Iraq, but certainly are doing that in Afganistan. So take care and make sure that you are joining for the right reasons.

that is why it is a good time to join - the Navy and your country
need you. Don't worry, you will probably remain within the safe
confines of a ship and not patrolling the streets like marines
and army.

my older bro joined the NAVY 2 weeks ago...dont be scared. even if u did go to war than once u got back you would be brave and stronger on the inside and out.

WE ARE AT WAR. JOIN THEY NEED A FEW GOOD MEN. WHAT KIND OF PERSON WANTS TO JOIN THE MILITARY ONLY IF THEY ARE NOT AT WAR? ARE YOU ONE OF THE GUYS THAT JUST WANTS TO REAP THE BENEFITS WITH OUT TRUE SACRIFICE. THE NAVY IS A BRANCH OF THE AMERICAN WAR MACHINE IF YOU DON'T WANT TO FIGHT JOIN THE BOY'S CLUB.

- Iraq
- Afaghani
- somalia
- Gulf
etc.

I would say that chances would be pretty high of seeing a tour in the Persian Gulf.
