The area between the edge of the pizza and the edge of the box needs to be there so your hand will fit and you will be able to grab the slice. If it wasn't there, you would have to scrunch up the slice and that would just be messy and gooey.

If "YOU" made boxes, which would be easier and cheaper to make, a round box, or a square box? If round boxes were harder and more expensive to make you would have to sell them for more money....right?
If you owned a pizza business and wanted to keep costs down (to beat competition) and have more profit, which would "YOU" buy...the cheaper square ones or the really expesive round ones? Which would make more sense...to put your money in a better quality pizza?....or a better quality box?
THINK - ABOUT - IT???

It's not cost effective to make round boxes. You would need to create a separate top and bottom, and it wouldn't make sense to pay the difference by the pizza places.

Because square boxes are easier to make.
It would be really cool to get them in a round box though!

It'd be tough to make a circular container for a pizza, but you'd think they could make the pizza square, huh?
