I can keep secrets, and I can talk about anything.(cars, to antique to finances). why don't I ever get asked out?? I am not ugly?? Am I too old?? I have alot of friends. What is the matter with me? I have alot of guy friends, but no takers. I am not standoffish or forward. is there any hope beyond single places??

I don't wear glasses, no kids at home and i don't dress old. I have a little wild side as far as clothes go. I dress in what I like to wear. I don't look like a hooker, but i don't loke like I was dropped out of a covered wagon either. I own my own home. I am a widow. I have on problem with smoking or drinking within reason. I don't smoke. I drink socially. I don't have to be entertained, I was with the same and only man for 32 years. I am not a freak. Does that clarify things. I work hard in a factory and have my own web business. I am a go getter.

I am close to your age & met my boyfriend online. I was also married over 20 yrs before & have 2 grown kids. My boyfriend is younger than me & age isn't an issue. A lot of older people try online dating now; there's not that many ways to meet older singles when most of your friends are married, their friends are married, etc. Just don't believe everything you read online, talk to them a while online to get a feel for their personality, and meet in a public place, don't give out personal information until you are sure about the other person. Even a 2nd or 3rd date I'd say stick to public places, restaurant, coffee shop, etc until you are sure. But I met a lot of nice local guys that way. I'd recommend it to anyone who really wants to meet someone. It can be a lot of fun and you may meet the right guy that way, and interesting people along the way.

I am 48 and I have no problem with women up to say 55 or 56 years old long as they take care of them selfs and are easy to get along with. I know when datting I would not even bother with a woman who owned her own home. I sold mine once to get married and move in her house and I ended up in the streets with nothing within three months.

Plus you might be wearing a ring on your finger. That will tell a guy to back off as well. Do you have someone living with you like a kid? older men like me have normally raised two or three families of kids that was not even ours and we just don't want anymore no matter the age.

Lastly is what do you look like? Do you dress old? do you cut your hair like an old woman? Do you wear granny glasses? Are you going to be a pain and not allow the guy to keep beer around?

It is hard to say where the problem is if being I don't know you. But I bet I could find the problem pretty quick.

I think it depends on how you act and react around men. The book can be a little extreme but I found that most of the advice worked wonders!! It's called The Rules by Ellen Fein and Sherrie Schneider. Like I said, they go a bit extreme (like for every 5 times a man calls you, call him back once, most guys I know give up on you after the third call, if not the second!), but they talk about not giving too much of yourself. Men are hunters, we are gatherers. Gather men to you and then let them hunt you! They like some mystery, especially in the beginning and only knowing so much about you drives them nuts. I would suggest checking out the book.

For a start age should not even be a barrier for anyone.I myself was in love with a woman 11 years older than me and we had a wonderful relationship for quite a few years.A lot of men are only after as much sex as they can get like it is a game and they need to keep score.if a younger man is after an older woman and they get together i say good on them.As for what they want maybe they just want a woman with motherly tendancies to nurture and look after them.Maybe they are just sick of younger women breaking their hearts but if they are really interested in an older woman or the older woman is interested in a younger guy then no one has the right to make them feel bad.

her daughters.

sorry... had to say that.

There are plenty of men around your age who want companionship and fun. Don't take anything too seriously - IMO men your age have been dealing with women who have put them through the ringer for the past 30 years.

Rather than focus on getting asked out, get involved in activities of interest to you. I think the men will follow.
