Interesting: I was reading some of the answers, and I am impressed how many people know nothing about history. Didn't you listen in history class?

The Revolutionary War was fought because the people living in "New England" didn't have representation in England, and were being excessively taxed and being held to rules that were not for every person from England - only those in "New England" (the name sound familiar??). So they stopped paying the excessive taxes, which caused the King to send some troops over. The people here decided to break away from England due to the unfair treatment. So they revolted because they didn't like the way they were being treated, they were not being allowed to earn a living, or a chance to move up in the economic scheme of things. They were being held down by a corrupt system that only wanted to make money off the backs of the people that it was supposed to represent and help (sound familiar???). So they went to war against England. The only difference between that one and a possible revolt in Mexico is that it wouldn't be done across an ocean.

I think people need to read the link you listed. Some of them don't know their American History, or they just choose not to remember it that way. But you are right on with that one.

1. The colonies would've happily stayed British if the King had given them representation in Parliment.
2. In our history books, MFille, it is a Revolution.
3. The colonists left England because they didn't like the rules for sure. But many came to exploit the new land and riches found therein.
4. Many were willing to die for our Freedoms durning the Revolution. Many were willing to die for the support of the Troops of the King. As always, there are two sides to every coin.
5. The Illegals in the US came from more than Mexico. So, answerers, please broaden your responses to include the Chinese, Russian, Bosnian, Iranian, Etc. plights as well.
6. I think they should go home and help make their countries better. If the country is beyond hope, apply for asylum. But the point is to apply! Show respect for this country. Our forefathers fought for the right to be heard. I will fight for your right to be heard. But I will fight for the love of my Country and the laws that those Fathers built a foundation for!
7. Not only educated people want freedom. Educated people have more resources and ability to voice their concerns succinctly, but education is not a prerequisite for Revolution.

I'm not really siding with one or the other here, just pointing out the holes that need to be mended for ya'll to sway me.

And even so there still a lotta people that stays there and are trying to change the country, but you just can see the ones here.

You dont choose were you are born but you indeed can choose where you live.

I am opposed to your idea you Americans only revolted because of taxes that were just. You did not rebel from a corrupt government. In Canada we came together as colonies to peacefully resolve the issues. Look at the Orange Revolution how people came together to peacefully overthrow the corrupt government with strikes and marches. And learn from this that the world does does not need to suffer anymore bloodshed or threat of war. We already have enough from the government in question (ie. Iraq). Also do not use America's paradoxical plan to force democracy from the barrel of a gun.
Please take this into consideration when reading things from people like this.

are you aware that flower sellers in mexico were murdered by the govt recently and when people protested, the govt moved in a thousand riot police. since the US govt usually backs the cruel dictators who suck dry the countries these poor folks run from, it only makes sense that they'd come here. we are reaping what we sow.

you ask an awful lot of people. you didn't do what you say 'we' did. you are standing on the shoulders of giants. plus, we fought for freedom, but not for the Indian. We slaughtered them. Not for the African slave. We bought and sold them. So, you're taking a rather rosy and idealistic view of what humans can do to end their own suffering. Our founders weren't suffering. They were rich white guys who wanted to control their own tax money. Fortunately, there were a few radicals in the bunch and we got these great rights out fo the deal.

Ok i seem to hear this comment a lot made by a lot of people in this forum, but isn't it contradictory? I mean if you really had fought to change your government wouldn't the american people have stayed in England and other countries and fought to change their government there?Though granted independence was declared but more or less it wasn't your own land that you declared independce on,but new territory.

I love the stuff the pro illegals come up with! I laugh so hard. I have stated your point many times. But the illegals have choices, fix mexico or come to the US and get free handouts. I guess it shows the make up of their character.

Listen, Minute man or woman. Do not be such an idiot. More than likely you are not an American Indian descendant of people who lived their entire like in America. Even if you were born here somewhere along the line of your family history you will find out that your ancestors were immigrants as well.

We did? We're you alive? No, and just so you know conservatives would have been torries, that's right anti-america, pro-british, our forefathers were proprietors of liberal thinking and considered radicals in their day.
And Mfille the revolutionary war was a long time ago, and the USA and Britain are friends now, don't you think it's time you got over it?
