The ads do work, but you have to ask questions when someone answers your add and get to know them online a few weeks before meeting in person. For every nice person out there looking for someone, there are 2 married people looking to fool around, 2 more looking for just a one night stand or sex buddy, and 1 looking to make money off of you or take advantage in some way or form.

I put a personal in my community's weekly newspaper eighteen years ago. I had nine responses, two of whom were promising. I married the lady with two small children and we've been celebrating ever since!

yes i have. unfortunately none of them ended up being in a relationship with me. but now i have some really cool friends i met. some of them i've known and talked to for years. i'm glad i did it. they turned out to be really cool average people.
