Would they put fresh duct tape back on it after a search so that none of my stuff is lost?

Anything sealed with tape must be opened. That is why people are told not to wrap Christmas presents, they will be opened. It will be up to you to re-tape your bag.

Wow, well, I'd probably just buy a new suitcase so that the zipper doesn't break in the middle of the airport. You are pretty funny.

If your suitcase is in that bad of shape, maybe it's time for a new one. You can get them pretty cheap at Costco. TSA requires that all checked luggage is subject to search, and I don't think in that case they would be able to reseal your bag. Better be safe than sorry.

they would probably just scan it. If there was nothing there to set off an alarm they would let it go through. If there was I am sure they would secure your belongings
