If I'm wrong then I'm wrong. At least I will have done my best to follow what I believed he wanted me to do.
I have no problem with honselty failing before God. I would have great problems with dishonestly failing or not trying at all.

I think that any reasonable god would judge on morals or character, and deeds rather than allegiance to a church. I am a good person, and I try to live my life the best way I know. Were I to die now, you would be wrong. God has never made himself known to me, and I tried for quite a few years to reach him. I am just as worthy as you to be rewarded in an afterlife, even though I believe in no god. You could not convince me of otherwise.

Personally, were there to be a deity, then I'm not exactly going to worry about all the crap that people try to say. I personally feel that all the arrogance placed on the concept is from humans. I have my doubts that some magical being like that would deem only one select group of people as 'special' and have very human emotion of arrogance and anger that someone did not believe in it or worship it in their life. Those attitudes are very human, which I would assuem that dieties are supposed to be above.

If the Pagan conception of gods are true I have nothing to worry about.
If the Christian god was true, I don't care if I made it to heaven or not, I would march down to hell on principle.
The thought of endorsing the principle of belief in Jesus Christ as being the determinant for punishment (never mind eternal punishment) is ridiculous.
All that matters in any coherent moral system is that moral rights are followed and moral wrongs are repented, not what (or who) moral wrongs are repented to.

This oft-repeated question is at the heart of why many reject God -- they're not rejecting the real God but the fake, ego-projected God that is worshipped in many religions. People don't want Unconditional Love (e.g. the 'good son' in the prodigal son parable) and, so, they make god into what our human thought system says he should be like: someone who rewards for obedience, belief, faith, doing good; someone who punishes for those who don't believe or 'sin'. It's classic and Jesus tried to get this horrible belief across by showing this in the 'good son' in the prodigal son parable (the good son doesn't get the conceopt of god and is angry that his special obedience and faith and sacrifice aren't specially rewarded by god).

If I am wrong about God, then he will be much more reasonable than the Christians think -- and he will let me into Heaven even though I don't worship him.
I hope I am wrong -- and that he will share some of that good wine with me.

GREAT question. I like to think that if I were an atheist, I'd rather be safe than sorry. I mean what can they lose by just trying to believe and seeing where it leads them?
Oh, and the reason God doesn't do the "cool" things he used to do is because maybe society has gotten so bad that we don't deserve to witness those huge miracles anymore?
So Christians don't use their brains? We don't think huh? Whatever........
And NO you won't be judged on your actions.......you'll be judged on whether or not you accepted Jesus's wonderful gift of salvation. If you didn't, and you had the chance to, then you're in trouble.

I'm sorry! I tried my best to follow your commandments as proclaimed in the Bible.
I know I failed many times and asked for forgiveness. If that was wrong YOU can't be the God of the Bible. I did not know that I was doing wrong. Can you forgive me?

I would say what I've already said. I would admit that I was in error in my beliefs. I would acknowledge that my own ability, my own education, or my own intelligence was not sufficient to discern the Truth. I would confess that, by myself, I was helpless to help myself.
