Being a Jew is defiantly not only about God.
Its also our history, our morals, our culture and our destiny.
I don't believe in god at all. But I'm Jewish and proud of all our heritage.
wouldn't want to be anything else.

I'm Jewish and there is LOTS of proof. What proof?
1. LOOK AROUND YOU! THAT'S your proof! This world could not have been created just in a second. People say it's evolution from a small cell at first or whatever, but where did the cell come from? What about the rest of the universe? It's infinite and could NOT have been made like that!
2. The Jews have brought down the Torah ("Jewish Bible") down all of these thousands of years to their children and their children all the way down to today; It goes all the way up to the giving of the 10 commandments.
3. Look at all of those wars the Jews and Israel have survived so far: all of the arab nations constantly attacking Israel when they don't even have an organized army and Israel STILL makes it through! That simply CANNOT happen without some type of supernatural power aiding Israel.
In addition to that, Jews have been constantly persecuted all of these thousands of years; people trying to destroy them all over Europe, kicking them out of all of the countries, Communism in Russia, the Holocaust, and YET they/we are still alive today, and STILL constantly with people trying to destoy us!
4. The Lubavitcher Rebbes that were with us recently enough doing all of those miracles and things beyond human nature! (Look up some stories of the Baal Shem Tov or the Lubavitcher Rebbes, they're all real and true!)
Basically, you just have to believe! It's those doubts that God sends to you to test your true faith in Him, or your Human nature that God gave you to test you. One or the other, you just have to believe!

I believe in G-d. I don't consider it blind faith since it is based on various reasons. I consider it "informed faith", much like my faith in science.
I don't think judaism is a culture. For one, what would that culture be?
Is it our food? well jews from different countries and time periods ate different foods (usually whatever the gentiles there were eating, as long as it was kosher. like pizza for myself).
Is it our language? Well jews from different countries have spoken different languages. And even the popular versions like ladino and yiddish are disappearing.
Is it our common land? Well for 2000 years we've been scattered across the world. certainly our land isn't holding us together.
So, in short, I don't think jewish culture really exists. When I see people trying to live out what they consider jewish culture (like bagels (?!?) and yiddish) I truly pity them; they're trying to revive a dead world which I don't think ever existed. That's not what being jewish is about. That's not what has kept us together for our 4,000 year existance. What did hold us together is our commitment to the torah. just something to consider.
cheerio
on the side, I think (with no offense intended) that christianity has given religion a bad rep. like, the majority of complaints I see against "the bible" here at yahoo are completely inapplicable to someone with a jewish perspective.

Did you know that there is scientific prove of the parting of the Red Sea? Did you know that every single thing in the world is in the Torah? I went to a lecture once, where the Rabbi was teaching that very subject, and someone asked the question, "How do we know that there's a G-d?", and the Rabbi pulled out a copy of the Chumash (Torah) and looked though it for nearly ten minutes, before he predicteded the weeks baseball scores. He got it! Literally to the exact points! Things like that show me, and everyone else that, in fact, there is a G-d! If you want to know more, email me at ilswimk@yahoo.com...I've got tons of stories! Good luck!

I used to be very much like you.
I grew up in a small suburb with very few Jews around me. This caused me to take pride in my Jewishness and feel special that I was Jewish I did not anyone to ever take that from me.
As a result when I was about 14 I decided to go to a Jewish high school. It also turned out to be a more Orthodox school. Their I learned more about our peoples history and culture than you can imagine.
Now about the existence of G-d their is nothing I can say or do to convince you of G-d's existence or lack their of. All I can do is show you the evidence in front of you and allow you to make the choice on your own.
I just want you to think of one thing. Looking at Jewish history and everything we have gone though wars, countless attacks, hundreds of expiation's, genocides, and two exiles. No people on earth has gone though as much as we have and for as long as we have. And what is the result? We are stronger and a more united people because of it. We show no evidence of our end and we have contributed more to humanity than any other nation. I cant explian it.
but if you want books on the subject of the existance of G-d and the vality of Judaism i have a few I can suggest.

I think that many people are also in your situation. All I do is read His Holy Word and pray that He will give me the strength I need to believe. I know that's not much of a help, but it's all I have to offer!

There are many great books ion this topic - the best, in my opinion, being "Permission to Believe" by Lawrence Kelemen.
It's a small book, and one worth a read. I'm sure you'll quicly come to a favourable decision ;)

If you are proud of our history, then how do you know about it?
Investigate it in the Torah, and then tell me that you do not believe in the Name, or are not sure of His existence.
