This is the Lord's prayer, the prayer that Jesus Christ taught us to pray.
"Our father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name"
Dear father, who is in heaven, you are holy.
"Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven."
May your kingdom come and may your will be done as if heaven was on earth
"Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us"
Take care of us and forgive us when we do wrong just as we are supposed to forgive others who do wrong to us.
"Lead us not into temptation but deliever us from evil."
Give us the power to fight temptation to sin and protect us from evil.

Lets start from the end and work backward. When this earth is doomed and finished with, we are not going to heaven. Thats right we are not going to heaven. There will be a new heaven and a NEW EARTH. Who then is going to populate the new earth ? Thats right those that believe in the messiah, the same messiah the jews have been or are looking for. His name is Yesua. Or popularly known as Jesus. Or the second Adam. Becasue the first Adam messed it up. The Almighty God, the heavenly Father is cleaning up the mess, day by day thru His creatures and creation, persevering and patiently. As HIs church we cry to the ABBA, Father, that He finish His unfinish business. Thy Kingdom Come. Prayer is but a conduit for Heaven to come upon material physical man. There is no other way that Heaven can come except thru invitation of mortal man. If God have it His Righteous way, it will be all burnt up long ago. But thru the mercy and grace of His Son we have life. And also, God sees the entire family tree, not just you or your immediate generation. He sees, your ancestores before you and he sees pass you to all your down line. So dont get too caught up with "why me" syndrome. God works through the generations. For all we know one generation maybe down and out just for the sake of preparing for the generations of your grandchildren brightness in Him. Therefore we pray THY KINGDOM COME. And for that matter Matthew 6 says, we should pray like this...not pray it like as in word for word but it is a model for prayer...pray like this....

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed by thy name...
(Our heavenly father who is revered by us)
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven
(We're asking that's Gods kingdom come to earth, that in the same way that His will is being done in heaven that it should likewise be done here on earth).
And yes, God is in heaven.

It was our Savior's lesson on how to pray. But you really should look it up and know the correct words before you seek the meaning.
There was and is a plan from before the creation of the earth. Jesus Christ is the fulfillment of that plan and therefore "on earth as it is in heaven"

It is OUR father who art in heaven, HALLOWED be thy name.... This is not God speaking, but people speaking to God. If it was in regular English it would translate as:
We ask you God, you who are in heaven, you who should be worshiped, please give us food and forgive us for our sins, and forgive those who sin against us, etc.

Jesus was teaching us how to pray to God. Jesus himself was God and human also, so he was praying to god as a human so we could learn how> One day, god will establish his kingdom on earth and become the rightful ruler, currently, satan is the king of this world>
