hi, about 3 days ago at 11pm my sister found a kitten with the ambelical cord still on and luckily she saved it and took it to a vet to get the tube cut off.. we'll to make a long story short, were feeding it KMR ever 2-3 hours around a 24 hour clock lol, i feel bad for my sister, she barely gets sleep. we read infos online about burping it, making it pee and poop, well yesterday it pooped for the first time, it was long lol.. i still cant figure out how milk can compose into poop. anywho cant figure out why it wont poop anymore, and it crys alot we have a heating pad underneat it set to max i read it has to be about 90 degrees hot, its knocked out right now, but i just wanted to make sure if were doing everything right and when will the eyes open heh, it keeps walking around in its box trying to climb out, so we take it out and it walks around with its eyes closed, its a black and white cat, dont know of what species it is, if anyone knows let me know... thanks

I would either find it a new mother, get it to the vet, or turn it into stew.

sounds like your doing everything right!

KMR is fed to them every 2-3 hrs like a baby. Bottle fed of course..lukewarm (if it feels too hot on the underside of your wrist..its too hot for them)

a warm rag is good for helping them pee..rub in a circular motion until they finish...

you dont have to burp it...and it shouldnt poop for awhile..if it does..it wont be everyday...it may only be that once until its older (like at least 2 months)

they eyes will open about 1-2 weeks old..sometimes earlier sometimes later...

black and white cats are just a common domestic cat.

and the heating pad shouldnt be so hot...maybe at like 70-80 degrees max..you could burn its skin.

just keep it confined...it wont need a litter box for awhile..when it does will be about 6 weeks old...and only use JOHNNY CAT litter.. non CLUMPING!!! and you can feed any kind of kitten chow soaked in the KMR about 6-8 weeks of age.

Its mostly likely a mixd breed, like many cats today.
If your problem is poop, and it is so young..
I feel bad for your sister but this the best way.
You need to stimulate like a mother cat would-
using a little warm water on a cotton ball or qtip and rubbing gently on its anus should help it along.
This has always worked for me after feeding my kittens.

Easy suggestion. Tell the vet that you don't know what you are doing. Ask the vet to care for this little one until it is easier to take care of... about 4 weeks. You will be surprised how kind a vet can be when they KNOW that someone loves this animal and will be returning for it. You will probably have to pay for its shots, but I will bet you the rest of the services will be free.

Have fun with your new baby.

Eyes open around 10 days to two weeks.
The species is feline. Do you mean breed? There are long hair and short hair cats, doubt you found an exotic breed.
I hope your sister looked around for the mom or any other newborns.

Try feeding canned food - kittens that age cannot maintain themselves on dry food alone. He will drink water when he needs to, but make sure he can get to the water bowl. By 8 weeks he should be off the bottle.

I don't have anything to say that hasn't already been said, and actually think that "mommy2" had the best answer. So I just wanna say thank you for taking the poor thing in and helping it to survive. It's so blessed and you and your sister will be too.

I have no clue what type of cat it is other than an alley cat,but it is crying because it's probably looking for it mama/litter mates so put something in with it like a stuffed animal. Your sister sounds like she's a good surrogate mama though(cute)........Good luck!
