I was born and raised to be a Christian. I'm not religious anymore, but I still get aggrivated when I see some athlete "Give Glory To God" when they win a game, make a touchdown, say that they will win the game if it's God's will. Or a recording artist winning an award and thanking God for a song having nothing to do with God or religion at all. Or an actor winning an award for a movie that did the same thing. If famous are going to profess their love and gratitude towards God, shouldn't they set an example for other christians and christians to come. It's like they have no concept of their religion at all. And really looks like they are trying to score brownie points to get more fans. I know what being a christian is all about. I used to be one. WWJD. Try to do your best to be christ-like. In my pre-teens I started studies to eventually become a preacher.

I know a woman who prays to God for parking places and when she gets em--which is NOT all the time!--she praises Jesus.

Firstly, congratulations on walking away from religion. I think many more people are doing so as technology, internet information and science brings the truth to the public at large. Religion has long suppressed and punished gullible minds, especially from child birth.

Religion is really just evil in disguise. Religion is responsible for the majority of wars, conflict and murder of innocent life since humanity began. There is considerable evidence to classify religion as evil, and talk of religion (Gods etc) should be banned. Because the records prove over and over again throughout humanity that religion is clearly responsible for crimes against humanity, taking part in any religious activity should also be outlawed and made a criminal offence.

The world would be a much happier and peaceful place if religion ceased to exist. Although there are some decent religious believers and preachers, they are unwittingly spreading evil around our world, and that they should simply keep their beliefs and thoughts to themselves in the best interests of humanity, or suffer the consequences for their actions.

People should consider that the world would be like Heaven if religion ceased to exist, but all the believers and preachers have turned the planet into Hell.

We must try and save people who believe in God. I know there are many nice people who believe in God, and they wouldn’t intentionally harm anyone. I suspect they would be just as nice if they didn’t believe in God, it’s just how their biological model works for them.

The real evil amongst us, are the vast majority of religious followers and believers who have clearly shown over time to be the major instigators of wars, violence, abuse, greed and practically everything evil on our planet.

We must stop innocent young lives, especially from birth, from being sucked into this evil religious trap. Humanity deserves at least an effort being made in this direction rather than just watching religion and the so-called do goody goody followers corrupting our world with evil.

If it really is just lip service and not a true gratefuleness, then yes, it bothers me. But we can't always say if it's sincere or not. I personally thank God over "small" things like getting a parking space, and of course huge things too.

The way I see it, God made the miles and miles of teency weency veins in all our bodies, 1000s of hairs on our heads and billions of cells. He's the God of the big and the small. You know how they say "the Devil's in the details"? I disagree: GOD's in the details.

And why'd you leave the faith?

Why do you think these things are superficial. Does one have to get a yacht to to be thankful to God? There is nothing wrong with sharing a happy moment with God. For a person who wants others to be Christ-like, you seem to be very judgmental.

Sparky Anderson used to say to the players who "showboated" about God when they hit a homerun by saying where was God when you struck out the 3 other times.

The attitude of gratitude in all things is one of the best traits to have.
It continues the cycle of even more blessings.

It really depends on the person and the circumstance. If it's forced, it doesn't sound sincere. If I am thankful privately, God knows.

UGH! Im so sick of people and their saying religion this and religion that and blah blah blah........if people would realize its not about any religion......its not about if you are christian, methodist, baptist, or any other denomination....its not about any of that.....when you get to the heart of the matter its all about one thing ....its all about JESUS.......He is the only thing that matters, He is the one we are to follow and to worship not religion. JESUS is the one that saves, gives mercy and grace. JESUS is the one that gives us love beyond any love we could ever know....religion doesnt do that. When we get right down to what its all about its about this : Do you love Jesus? Have you taken Him as Lord and Savior of your life?........this my friend is what it is all about not religion.

In regards to if it bothers me if I hear people thanking God........No, it doesnt bother me to see people such as actors, athletes, singers thanking God for blessing them with the talents they have and for allowing them to perform and be the best they can be in their profession.....I would love to see more people thanking God and giving him the glory. Maybe some are trying to get more fans but that isnt for me to judge that is between God and the person themselves, but when it comes down to it more of us should be thanking God for saving us, for blessing us richly in our lives and for each thing that He provides for us and yes even in the hard times we should thank Him because
its in those times we truely understand just how much we do need Him in our lives.

So, in conclusion I want to say " Thank God for his mercy, love and saving grace in and upon my life. For the blessing of a wonderful family, friends and great job, and for each morning I get to see the sunrise and for each evening I get to see the sunset and the moon and stars come out in the sky.....thank you God for each and every blessing you have given me.
