When I go to obedience lesson, my dog is extremely hard to control. Whenever she sees a dog she goes nuts, she never listens to me. I tried chokers but they don't work with her she just ignrores me. So I went to pinch collars. she listens to me then, but I worry that she might be to young for this ( she is 5 months old), but there is no other way to control her. Another thing. When I am at home, she does just fine. Since she is just 5 months old should I even be correcting her on obedience ( by obedience I mean correcter her when she does not sit on command, or doesn't turn quickly enough) using a chain or a pinch collar?

Okay, first off - get rid of the collars. All you're doing is aggravating the situation. Not only is your dog combative with others, you are adding to his temper.
Once you have gotten rid of all the unnecessary training tools out of the way, Find some empty soda cans. Clean them out well. When they are dry, put some pennies in each one and tape the hole on the can closed. Now get a small plastic bag with handles and put the cans with the pennies in them.
When your dog starts acting up, pat the bag on the ground next to the dog. The noise from all the metal clanging aroudn will startle him and at least for a moment, he will stop in his tracks. After you have his attention, calmly (no screaming) say "no". If he responds, reward him. (dogs love american cheese: just a small piece)
If you keep this going long enough, your dog will definitely respond and you will no longer have a problem.

well first of all, since your dog is only 5 months old, she is still acting like a puppy (playful, hyper etc.), this is totally normal. Big dogs take more time to grow up and that goes for the temperament also. (it may take more than a year for some dog breeds to "grow up" to be an adult dog)

And secondly, I wouldn't wonder why she is not responding, using choker collars and such (that inflict pain to the dog) are not good to use at a very young age (younger than a year) since the throat is more vulnerable and you might cause damage to your dog's throat and voice box.

The best way to do something about it is to slowly start socialising your dog to other dogs, not go into a full room of dogs the first time (take it from me)
also, continue your dog obedience classes and focus on rewarding your dog for good behavior (praise and treats) rather than punishing your dog if she doesn't want to sit or lay down.
Training your dog to obey and know tricks takes allot of patience, and if you're wondering if she doesn't listen to you, maybe it's because she's a bit scared of you, or doesn't like the way you treat her (sorry if I'm being quite blunt and obvious about it, I don't mean to offend you)

and finally, good luck and I recommend you stick with a plain leach and collar (snap collar), and bring your dog outside for walks to help socialize her to her surroundings, and concentrate on rewarding your dog for good behavior, punishing her will only confuse her and make her insecure.

I'm no expert but if you don't start now it'll just be that much harder later. The younger the better--not that old dogs can't learn but why wait. I have a staffordshire terrier that is the same way and i got him at a year old and it was hard to get him to settle. And as long as you use a pinch collar correctly its not actually hurting the dog and maybe eventually you can even switch to a regular collar. Good luck

What kind of dog do you have? A few years ago when i took my dog the instructor wouldn't take a dog under 6 months, unless it was aggressive. But every place is different I'm sure, ask your instructor. And try to find a class that is not over crowded.

It is easy to train a dog/puppy. Have treats available.
The way I taught my dog to sit I would say" sit Jack sit" at the same time I put my hand on his lower back and he sat.
Upon doing this I gave him a treat and told him good boy.
If you follow this procedure and reward with a treat he/she will learn "sit equals treat" and he/she will sit. Always give a treat though after wards.
Same process goes for other things you would like to teach. When you give your dog water..show water, say water and soon he/she will know water.Do this consistently
and you will be surprised how fast your dog will learn.

Do not correct your dog in this way. It is very abusive. The instructor at the obedience class should be able to help you control your dog.

positive reinforcement always works better then using pinch collars. Try keeping a favourite treat with you at all times; most likely with it in hand you will get her undivided attention.

I'VE BEEN THERE!. TRY THE "HEAD COLLAR. IT WORKS LIKE A HORSE HALTER ON THE HEAD AND WHERE THE HEAD GOES THE BODY FOLLOWS! ITS THE BEST IDEA EVER. MY 4 GREAT DANES ALL WALK AT MY SIDE OR ON A LONG LEED WITH NO PULLING AT ALL. THEY DONT LIKE IT AT FIRST , IT FEELS WEIRD. BUT THEY SETTLE WHEN THEY KNOW IT ISN'T COMING OFF. I PUT IT ON IN THE HOUSE A LITTLE EVERY DAY TO GET THEM USED TO THE FEEL BEFORE I HOOK A LEASH TO IT. TRY IT YOU WILL SEE. :)
