It is a dumb idea. The more tax they put on cigarettes, the more incentive there will be for people to steal them. And, if they go really far with it, a black market for tobacco will form.

I don't see how anyone can afford the cigarettes even without the tax. Use you cigarette money to pay for a stop smoking program.

Sure if you want to keep smoking you will find a way to pay the new taxes and expect more in the future as far as a black market I think there already is one

Can you afford to die an early and painful death from cancer, heart disease, or emphysema? Whatever price you are paying is too low and does not cover the costs incurred by the healthcare system, lost productivity, disability, etc. I hope you are only harming yourself and not harming or killing others with your secondhand smoke.
