You're thinking like Erich Von Danagan (spelling).

My mother thought of that way back in 1961.

There is also the man of metal who ate a role of parchment and spake.

Now, if doesn't sound like a robot or computer what does.

Some people that these things symbolically, but we can also take them literally.

The thing of it is, remember these stores date back 6,000 year or more and were written down in 30 BC or even 100 BC.

Take the 4 horsemen of the Apocolypse, is that symbolic. Today it would be because we have jets, cars, tanks. John didn't speak of a metal horse.

The oil is running out and in 400 years we may no longer have cars. We may be back to horses. This it can be literal again.

Lot's wife turning to a pillar of sand after the city burst into a great light.

A bomb?

Some other form of advance explosion. Something that turns a human into sand almost immediately.

Jacobs ladder, with angles walking up and down. Men with wings. A bright light at the top.

Did one of Ezekel's wheels land and people in travel suits or even pressure suits come down and go up.

Then again we could be wrong.

Most Christians would not take this view, but they are not deep or open thinkers and don't look at every possibility.

Genesis reads like a Cosmology or Biology experiment.

This is not to say God isn't great or eternal. It simply means God comes from a different plane or different universe and was capable of making this universe with everything in it including animlas and man.

It is entirely possible that God did breath on dust and made made.

God put man into a deep sleep and fashioned Eve from man's rib.

Cloning?

That didn't understand that concept 6,000 years ago but we do today.

If you or I were to still be alive from that day. From 6,000 or 1,000,000 years ago how smart would we be? How wise!

God said man was to be denied the Tree of Life, because then man would live forever and be as Gods.

Jesus said we ALL have his powers.

Jesus saves with a touch. Do we not do that with CPR!?

The breath of life, do we not do that with artificial respertation.

If God is on another universe and another plane then it IS possible to walk on water, for MATTER and ENGERY and SURFACE TENSIONS are all within the graps of someone with knoweldge.

They call it spirituality and faith. Maybe that's so.

But it is also essential knoweldge and we can't get it in just 80 years on Earth.

Newton said I see so far because I stand on the shoulders of Giants.

Some deep thinkers know how to add hundres or thousands of years to their knoweldge and life pool.

God plants things to show us the way, but we rarely look.

Savants.

A person who can flip through 1,000 pages of a general ledger book and write down the current balance figure with only a glance at each page.

You're saying WE can't do that if we make the same Brain Eye conntection as the Savant!

The blind, the deaf and the mute. They develop other skills we don't have.

Blind people walk in the dark. Try that sometime. Put a blind fold on and just tyy walking around your house. Bet you fall down and whack your shins!

The independent development of Kung Fu, KArate, Judo.

The independent development of Calculus by two people in the same year in vastly different locations.

It would behove Science to look at Religion and Religion to look at science.

A few scientists like Hawkings and Einstein give God a nodd every now and then.

The Bible, if looked at properly, is a lot like that guy who sees into the future. What's his name. I've got a mental block. Everyone has his book written thousdands of years ago and it predicted WW1 WW2.

There's nothing wrong with taking the bible Literally, Figuratively, Symbolically, but it should also be taken somewhat Scientifically, by that I mean as a look into technology.

God could be a Techno Geek.

A master of ALL there is, because of how long God has lived.

Imagine having that kind of mastery. Enough mastery to create a universe.

This is not blasphemous, this is simply thinking of God in terms of what we know and how we live today. In which case the Amish could be dead wrong!

God is a one millionth degree Black Belt in everything.

What would YOU and I know if we lived just 6,000 years from the day of the first Biblical stories until today.

Living through all if it. Reading all the books and newspapers. Seeing some of it first hand.

We would be 100th degree black belts in MANY disciplines. STill a LONG way off from God.

The way we can be sure of whether our interpretation of scripture is correct is to see what the Church has to say on the matter. Christ gave his apostles the authority and the Graces to teach truth.

"And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it." --Matthew 16:18

By saying the "gates of hell shall not previal against it" Jesus is saying that it will not mislead the faith by putting the Truth in jeaporady. It is by this authority that the Church canonized the scriptures in the 4th century AD at the Council of Hippo.

Since the Church in entrusted with the Truth the Church can rightly interpret scripture.

" 16Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, into a mountain where Jesus had appointed them.

"And when they saw him, they worshipped him: but some doubted. And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen." -- Matthew 28"16-20

Christ gave the apostles the authority to preach what he taught. Christ would not let them turn us the future astray, so he protected them from error. And just as he did not abandon the Apostles when he died, he did not abadon the Church when they died.

Many people want others to give *their* interpretations of the bible. But the bible interprets itself. It was given by inspiration to holy men of God who spake 'as they were moved by the holy spirit', which means God revealed to them the truths of the bible and they had them written down (or wrote them themselves).
Before we ever think of giving our own interpretation of the bible we should remember 2 Peter 1:20 :
knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.
The words 'private interpretation' here are the Greek words idios and epilusis. Idios means one's own or his own, Epilusis means letting loose upon as a dog to the rabbit.
We are not to let loose our own ideas or interpretation of the scriptures. They interpret themselves and we can learn how they do so so that we can understand the bible.
As for the verses you mention. The first is Ezekial's description of the throne of God and the four Cherubim around it. These Cherubim are thought by many to be a form of Angel that guard the throne. They are mentioned in this verse in the figurative sense because Ezekial is describing what he sees by comparing it to the things he knew. In the Babylonian and Assyrian kingdoms of the time, winged creatures were carved around the thrones of Kings. They were called Kerubs and it is the same Assyrian word Kerub that is translated into Cherub in the bible.
The seven spirits of Revelation is referring to seven angels who are spirit beings as God is. These angels are also referred to individually in the text.
There are many theories about all these things but the truth of the matter is that both Ezekial and John were describing symbols in a figurative sense in some of the verses and literal things in others. Once we understand the truth on figures of speech some of these symbols can be understood. Those that cannot cannot. If the bible doesn't tell us what they mean, we cannot know. But the thing about the book of revelation is this, it is written to a future age. Not to this age. There are no actual landmarks of reference relating to it today so we cannot really relate to the truths it contains. The revelation period involves the Twelve Churches, each representing one of the twelve tribes of Israel. That refers to the bride of Christ and not to us. When learning how the bible interprets itself we must understand that we can learn from what is written to us, but we should only apply that which is *to* us. Today's period is the age of Grace. It is the time of the body of christ. The church or 'called out ones' today are representatives of the actual Christ himself. They take the place of Christ as ambassadors for God. The Israel of the Old Testament and that of the Revelation period are the bride of Christ, they do not represent Christ, they are instead the priests for the world and followers of the law.
There is not really enough room here to give the whole understanding of these things so I hope the small glimpse I have given helps you see that there is a greater truth to the understanding of the bible then people think. This old idea of people interpreting the scriptures is wrong. The bible can and does interpret itself. We just have to listen properly and learn. This idea of people interpreting the bible themselves smacks of arrogance. Who are they to decide what God means? Who are they to think they have the right to impose their ideas on God?
God has said what he has said. Most of the time they think he has said one thing but he has really said the opposite. That's why there is so much division in the churches today, everone is so busy trying to put their own idea into God's mouth that they cannot listen to God and let the truth of God set them free. Result: people in misery, pain and suffering all over the world, religious wars and persecution, hatreds and hypocrisy. So, before anyone else gives their interpretation I would strongly suggest letting the bible speak for itself. After all, God was the author of the book, do you really think the creator of all the heavens and earth is so stupid as to leave the interpreting of his bible to the likes of man?

When the writers wrote these scriptures, it was after Ezekiel and John the beloved saw them. If no one has seen these things on earth now because it was a devine revelation, there would be nothing to compare the things to. I doubt that we could describe something no one else has seen any better that these writers did.

They understood they were given visions of spiritual and heavenly things. That is what they need to be described with words like (it was like this or like that) because heavenly things can't be perfectly described with earthly language.

I don't think we should bother interpreting it. I think we need to just ignore it and start working on developing a more rational, applicable and understandable new bible.
